Small Budgets Need Not Apply

While DJI tops the list of consumer oriented drones, Freefly Systems rules the sky when it comes to high end professional level drones. The Alta, released last year, changed the game for pros wanting to shoot with high end cameras like RED and ARRI. It offers amazing features like the ability to fold up tightly for travel and a quick mounting system that allows top or bottom placement of the Movi gimbal. This year they are bringing out the Alta 8.

The Alta is a hexacopter, but the new Alta 8 is obviously an Octocopter having 8 motors and props. This provides even greater lifting power which now goes up to 20lbs vs the standard Alta's 15lb limit. The Alta 8 is also inherently more stable and provides greater safety. If a motor fails to operate in flight for some reason, an Octo doesn't care and keeps on flying like nothing happened.

The Alta 8 has the same fold up design as its little brother and offers the top/bottom gimbal mounting system for Sky view or Ground view. There's a ton of other great features that make the Alta 8 the best professional drone on the market right now. Here's the kicker though, it's priced out at $17,495. That doesn't include a gimbal, batteries, radio system, FPV system, or even the lower landing gear. Add all those extra items up and you can end up spending north of $25k. So it's not for everyone, but for those with aerial video businesses catering to big budget projects, the Alta 8 is the drone to drool over.

Old news. They were and issues corrected. With consumer drones that never happens, regardless of issue severity. They just throw multiple firmware patches at them and hope for the best.

Don't forget the "it doesn't exist" strategy, too!
