XK-innovations RTF X6 Transmitter - Each DR coin has two sides!
Summary:
The X6 transmitter, which comes with the RTF versions of XK-innovations' new micro heli lineup (K110, K120, K123, etc), has two sides to every dual rate parameter. In other words, each aileron dual rate switch setting (one high, one low) actually has two values: one for left deflection and one for right deflection - and these must be set independently by moving the stick each direction in turn while programming each value. Same is true for the elevator and rudder. Failure to set both sides will result in (possibly radical) asymmetrical response and this may explain strange undesirable flight behavior some may be experiencing. You may wish to go check yours right now! Discussion: So I received my new XK K110 RTF package today and started taking a close look at the X6 transmitter programming. I first documented the as-delivered settings then proceeded to apply my own preferred settings. Dual rates: So I'm a slow learner and have been flying my CP micros (mCPX-V2 and nanoCPX) with dramatically reduced rates on the cyclic - i.e. 50% on both elevator and aileron channels. These very low rates tame these touchy wild beasts down quite nicely. So I programmed in lower rates on the new XK X6 controller and then checked it out on the bench but was very disappointed to discover that only one side of the stick travel had the reduced rates! What the...? At first I was very disappointed thinking that this cheap little TX was a POS, but then I had a thought - maybe the dual rate setting for each channel actually has two values? Turns out this is actually true and my negative feelings towards this controller did a 180 and now I am more impressed with this little guy! So after setting up 30% DR on cyclic and a 60% flat throttle curve, I maidened this new heli without incident. She flys SWEET! (And the 3G/6G switch does work in-flight - Yay!) Yeah, thanks for pointing this out. I haven't needed to adjust rates yet on the X350 or K120 but it looks like I will need to on the K110 and for sure this saved me some hassle when it arrives.
I'd expect two sides for end points but not for dual rates. Cheers ridgerunr |

Stick Calibration!
So the throttle stick on my X6 TX was not quite right - (there was a large dead band at the bottom of the travel and electrical center was not at the physical center). Reading the manual revealed a stick calibration procedure. After a bit of fiddling, I figured out how it works:

From X6 to Futaba TX TJ8
So, I worked on the Futaba TX some more to get the best possible implementation of the XK 120. As luck would have it, another Futaba player happen to be on hand and we substantially changed the switching needed to get all the functionality. I have not had time to write it up but I am ending up with a total of TWO switches that are needed for ALL the functions. First switch is the Throttle Hold Switch ( right top) . The other switch is the IDLE UP switch ( 3 position on left top of TX)
Basically, the Normal /Idle Up settings are on the 3 position switch and the condition switch which is set with Gyro to 75% and 25%. The Mode switch grabs the 75% Gyro setting in NORMAL and the 25% setting is set to the IDLE UP modes. Of course, the D/R and EXPO settings ( your choice and preference) are used and the Throttle settings are set for the Normal mode starts with ZERO ( at there is no soft start in the X120) and is almost linear, and IDLE UP 1 is at 80% across and IDLE UP 2 at 95% across. General observation. With these settings, the Normal mode is very usable for beginners , it does not allow inverted flights and it self-rights and the IDLE UP's have all the 3D capability with basically two head speeds if you chose them. |

I did a factory reset on the xk x6. Got everything back the way it "should" be. Just one question when picking the swash type for k110 & k100 should it be the circle at 90 or the circle at 120? The transmitter instructions seem to say select circle with 120 for 3 servos but most transmitters would say pick 90 for servo type. I figure just different interpretation then other transmitters.
So can someone with a factory bound k110 or k100 to the xk x6 verify the swash type should be the circle with 120??? Thanks |

Hi. My k 110 was drifting to side tried to trim it but did not work. I found your video, Did stick calibration just like you showed. But now it's more worse. 3D 6g switch has changed. 6g switch was towards me now it's away from me and its way more unstable. And trims are also not in the centre. I posted a photo too. What do I do? How do I reset my transmitter? Thanks
