Question
Motor Pulsating at Full Throttle
I was doing a bench test on my Python 60 outrunner, 8x6 prop, , Jeti 8a Advance ESC, 3s1p TP 830a battery ---at full power the motor began pulsating after a few seconds at full throttle.... My guess is this is because I'm pulling to many amps out of the battery for it's rating 8-10C? Sound about right? Just want your opinion to make sure I don't have a defective motor or esc...
At full power and fresh battery - I was initially pulling close to 9 amps but it also did it at the end of the test with a depleted battery at full throttle when I was pulling only 6 amps (voltage was dropping). THANKS! HomeBrew |

I don't know what the max draw for that motor is, but at 9A you are overtaxing the batteries and risking your 8A ESC. Even if you have a pack rated at 10C you must expect considerable voltage drop at any more than 6C or so. Example: I just did some test runs with a Kokam 340SHC pack (optimistically rated at 20C = 6.8A). With 2s (8.1v initial voltage), at 2.7A draw, pack voltage was 6.8v, but at 4A draw it was 6.0v. On 3s (12.2v initial voltage), at 4.3A draw, pack voltage was at 9.3v, but at 5.7A draw, pack voltage was down to 8.1v.
