What batteries for Astro cob. 05/gear glider?

I am getting back into RC after a decade, and ten years ago I used 7 cell 800 Mah pack that weighed 8 ounces- got three high climbs per charge out of my Viking O.T. I wonder if there are batteries of similar weight now with more capacity- like NiMH-? Can I use 4/5A nimh or would the current (17A?) be too much for them? Thanks-

From lightest to heaviest: CP1300, CP1700, CP2400/RC2400. Any of these cells would do. CP1300s are 1/2SubC cells that weigh the same as 800ARs you were probably using.

Do a search for CP1300SCRs. They are half the height of a normal SubC cell. CP1700SCRs are 4/5ths the size of a SubC cell. CP2400SCRs are full size Sub C cells.

Thanks for the info- I 'm on the right track now. It is hard to believe that I can have so much more capacity at the same weight! I think I'll design a sport plane using that system. I hope I can finfd NiMH in the CP sizes.
