Help with charging rates for small Nimh cells.

Hi, I have a 7 cell pack of NimH cells, 300 mah capacity, as well as 8 cell packs of the same. Now I have a Super Nova charger, but it only goes down to 500 maH charge rate, which could damage the cells. How do I get the charge rate down to 200 - 300 maH for my NimH packs, or is there another charger that charges 7 and 8 cell NimH packs of 300 maH capacity? Trouble is, I have loads of chargers now, and after paying out for my all singing all dancing Super Nova, I really do not want to spend loads on yet another sophisticated electronic charger. How do all you guys charge your little 300mah 8.4v and 9.6v NimH packs then?
Regards, Paul Ironmonger.

I would think that 500mA would be fine for the 300mAh NiMh. Some of the guys in my indoor club charge at up to 900mA! It does not seem to have damaged the cells....

Are you sure they're not using NiCds ? They'll take that sort of current but I've never seen an NiMH cell that will take 3C without dying very quickly.

yep definitely NiMh, I don't charge that fast personally and wouldn't recommend it, but it seems that the batts are still working well.

Thank you for the speedy replies, I know I can charge at 500maH, but this does shorten the life of the NimH batteries, by how much I do not know.
Philip, nice charger's on that site, just ashame they only do upto 7 cells, quite a lot of my small packs are 8 cell NimH, so I need a charger or some method of dropping the current output out of my SuperNova.
I can't be the only one with this charging problem!
