They're not "Superbowl Ads" any more.
I remember a time before "Superbowl Ads". Back then the commercials during the game were just ordinary commercials that ran all the time.
Then Apple's "1984" commercial aired. It was the ONLY time it ran nationally. Other companies caught on and started debuting commercials during the Superbowl. But soon they stopped being "Superbowl Ads" because they once again aired all the time. And in fact, they don't even wait for the Superbowl. For the past 2 days every morning show is showing the upcoming Superbowl ads. I'll bet $10 you've already seen the Heinz "wiener dog" ad and others. "The first glorious anniversary of the information purification directives" has succumbed to corporate greed. .

I didn't even know the game was happening this weekend until yesterday
I don't watch, or see the commercials. There is zero life value for me to partake in professional sports in any way. Clyde |

Also watched on TV, always liking the bowl games, etc, but one thing I noticed when I tried to go back is the hits are so much more fierce, and even with all the new rules, a full blown helmet hit by what appear to be more athletic players seems to happen quite a bit and it was like every game I turned on, someone was getting hurt... so now I am reading something like 80% of NFL players have brain injuries. I read about these guys who are young, like mid thirties who are retired and cannot remember things, have trouble walking down stairs, and with other motor controls... Pretty sad that all this is happening in the name of entertainment. But I really think it has a lot to do with a higher level of athleticism, just like in baseball, we see these incredible athletic plays on defense as a regular thing today. While I am sure some of those are taxing on the long term physical ability of the player, meaning they might be sacrificing their length of tenure in MLB in exchange for some of those landings they make, might have long term spine and back issues, knee issues.... I don't think they are going to live half their lives with the problems of permanent brain injury, but both sports are showing an increase in the athletic ability and training and what that brings to the sport, in football, it brings something that has to be addressed if football is to survive. Probably in Baseball they are going to have to address pitchers getting hit in the face or head, maybe even require more face protection for batters attached to the helmet, and some sort of device for the pitchers (a couple are wearing some goofy looking helmet caps now). |

OK, looked it up, the ones giving it away was Intuit, and the winners were an 11 person company named Death Wish Coffee. http://recode.net/2016/02/03/this-11...mmercial-slot/ |

I actually find LTUP to be better entertainment than sports, as well as learning more about life in general.
If as many people had tuned into the debate as will watch the super bowl today, maybe we would be better off. Apathy is a sad trait of today's American. Clyde |
