Composite-ARF Impact pictures


Hi all,

Here are some installation pics of the Impact I flew at the Nats.

Here is of the Futaba 9151 aileron servo (Du-Bro arm).

Aileron linkage


Here is the 4-40 Du-Bro all-thread aileron linkage (actually Rhapsody aileron linkage)

Rudder horn


Here is the rudder horn and the stab tube holes and cut-outs in the fuselage for the elevator servos to go into.

Elevator servo set-up


Here is the elevator servo with linkage. I had to open the root rib to accept the Futaba 9650 servo's and open the skin to slide them in from the inside so they wouldn't hit inside the fuselage.

The tail wheel


Here is a 1" Du-Bro park-flyer wheel on 1/16" music wire.

Battery tray


The battery trap is 1/4" end-grain carbon/balsa from BVM. It is glued to the wing tube sleeve and the landing gear front former. The Mas-90-Acro is velcro'd to the fuselage. One side of the Y goes outside the fuselage as does one battery lead for final connection.

Radio "compartment"


Here is the Futaba 9151 rudder servo, 148 DP Rx, TP 730 Rx battery and 6V Duralite regulator. The servo is mounted into the air exit tunnel and everything else is double sticky taped down.

Front motor mount


Here is the front mount (Ric Fix mount) for the C-50 14XL 6.7. It is 1/8" carbon plate machined out with 4 rubber grommets.

Rear motor mount


Here is the rear mount for the C-50. It is 1/8" aircraft plywood cut into a triangular shape (1/8" lite-ply doubler on backside of triangle on hole for motor). 4-40 screws hold it to the modified stock firewall.

What is the deal with the spacer between the front mounting plate and the gearbox? (post # 10) I'm seeing this on more and more setups but haven't figured out what it's for.
