NQD Tear Into Jet: Brushless?

I am planning on getting one of these toy rc jet boats by NQD and fitting it out with a brushless setup. Anybody know what setup to use? I want the shaft width of the new motor to match the old motor to make things easy. Radio gear is easy, no problem for me. Just what motor and esc to use troubles me. (Preferebly from hobbyking)

There's nearly a thousand page thread on just this very topic in the 'Racing Boats - Electric" forum room. I'm sure you'll find SOMETHING useful in there:

(I think it's pretty much the official thread by now...)

I converted two boats myself using surplus 2850 inrunners I had on hand that required drilling out the couplers, but there are many suggestions and tips in that thread. Have fun! I did...
