Lets just say I have far too many props, but I'd rather be buying ones that I didn't need than ones I do need!
I purchased more , got some 4045's enroute and intend on getting some of the 5045BN's for good measure. I will go through them all and see if i get any out of balance (did a few boxes previously and found them all great). |

Here's something quite novel for this crop of propellers:
Kingkong 4pcs Self-Locking Cap for 4045 5045 6045 6535 Propellers http://www.banggood.com/Kingkong-4pcs-Self-Locking-Cap-for-4045-5045-6045-6535-Propellers-p-1031183.html I'm not a great fan of these things, but this is quite an interesting take on them. Although I wonder how they would affect the balance due to being elliptical. |

Ellips shape need not be an issue, as long as it's symmmetric shape. All deends on how well centered the hole is.

Had the 4045's drop through the door today and after seeing that you tested a few, thought I'd do the same- I sampled 3 pairs randomly and all were bang-on, with that I put them back in the box quite satisfied that the rest will be fine to stick on anything that needs them in the forthcoming season.

5045BN - Take advantage of them being a bit cheaper
I'm not sure when, but the 5045BN's seem to have recently received a price hike.
They are currently available at the original price (25% discounted) due to the Chinese New Year sale. Needless to say - I stocked up on some more (even able to reduce the cost further using some points also). The 4045s are unbelievably tough, still on my first set after 2 carpark and 2 outdoor sessions. Would have gone through at least 10 of the GemFans in that time. A lot stiffer than the ABS Gemfans too which helps with punch and response.
They bend but just bend them back and keep flying. Awsome. |

Opened up my 10 pack of the red 5045 and had to balance every single one. Not horribly off, though. They do seem durable and they have just the right amount of flex. Can't wait to try them out as soon as I finish my new build.
EDIT: For now, i will retract my statement about them not being balanced. Being new, i didn't realize that I should balance my balancer first. Will edit again once I have my balancer balanced. |

Sad to hear that the 5045BN's are unbalanced, NordicBlue. I have tested box upon box with perfect results of the 5040,6040 and 4045 variety's and expected the 5045BN's to be no different, I am still waiting for my order with them to turn up.
What sort of balancer do you have? Mine is not a very good one admittedly but it seems to do the trick for the most part. Must get that Du-Bro Tru-Spin i have been meaning to treat myself to ~ eventually. |

Mine is a Neewer. I was thinking that maybe the issue is there. Was doing them late at night and didn't actually do any tests on the one balancer I have. I am Thinking I will edit and remove my post as I may be wrong....

Received a box of the 5045BN's and went through them all ending up very happy that I didn't need to do anything to them. Leaving me feeling ready to pull the trigger on a few more boxes in the near future that I wont bother checking.

<Edit> Doh edit about the editing ![]() While in Edit mode I suppose I could add that the meat on the leading and trailing edge of the props where it joins the hub is phenomenal. being quite hard to give an accurate measurement of - In places its upto 5mm of material ajoining the hub ,while the hub itself is just over 7mm. These props are going to be seriously tough - living up to the billed "Unbreakable" statement (as well as could be reasonably expected)plastered on the box. Prehaps to the detriment of other components. |

MrE_fz, mine is the pic you posted with the blue and red. I spent some time with some sand paper to attempt to balance the blue pieces. It was definitely dropping to one side when I had either side alone on the rod.

I grabbed some of these as they were touted as super durable and were way cheaper then the DAL I was running and really happy with. They feel very similar to fly and balance was way better than the DAL too. Really impressed blades only needed a few passes of sandpaper and hubs just a few passes with a file if at all.
First flight on my cf258 1900kv 2820 beater.
