well my maiden did not go too well...no crash but a bouncy landing...I did not do my usual ck. on the power band of the motor..i had not used my 3 cell in over 2 years...but it charged up just fine..I gave her full power and off I went...it seemed kind of slow, but that was mentioned before, I lifted off at full power and it would barely climb....and it seemed tail heavy...very twitchy....I had the cg at about 2 1/4, withing the range......
I only got about 10 feet up and flew at full power and landed...I was fighting her all the way...did not break anything but it looked nasty...Turns out...I have bad cells... at full power the voltage dropped like a rock...cking her out she started dropping in rpm bigtime....so I really never got up to a good flying speed......I only had the one battery and nobody else had a 3 cell with a deans plug...got home and found another one.. it ran fine..at about 28 amps...might try tomorrow...it seemed to have plenty of power with a good battery... I also had a very bad nite...some kind of bug and did not go to sleep till like 2:30 in the morning.... I think I will be fine but I did move the cg forward to like 1.75 in...just to be sure...it was so twichy but that might have been low speed too.... |

Just got back from a much better maiden..it was gusty and the bird was not happy but I did good...even with my battery all the way forward I had to add some down elevator... I think mine might end up at 1.75inch. on the cg..a little surprised at that...
It did have a great glide angle and seemed to settle down a lot in the engine off mode...put in some expo...got only one flight but I am going to love this bird...flew around for maybe 3 min. and still had 70 per cent left...a little over half throttle seemed the sweet spot...Hope to get her in the water soon...everyone was impressed with the quality and looks... sorry not much to report... |

Got two more flights and am learning what this bird likes...Landing at full flaps is good and you can slow her down to make a nice soft landing...I am not a fan of pod mounted motors and props but this one is ok...she is a little twitchy in the air but I am getting use to her...can not wait for the sea trials....so far so good..I am getting like 7 min. flight times....nice...
good bird |

Hi guys. I just got one of these yesterday and took it for it's maiden flight today and so far I really like it. My only complaint is it wants to climb under power so every time I opened it up I had to give quite a bit of down elevator to keep it level. I have it balanced at 2" so it shouldn't be tail heavy. Has anyone else had this issue?

Seawind ESC?
The Seawind product discription on the Motion RC website states that it comes with a 30 amp ESC but on the Tower Hobbies website it says it has a 40 amp ESC. Anyone know for certain which one is correct? Both sites claim different motors as well. Very confusing.

It is not a real powerhouse and I do not think the esc. would not effect that anyway...I am wondering if you could run a 4 cell...I have not done research yet on the motor...I think the 40amp. esc. would handle it but not sure of the motor yet.
I am wondering if anyone has messed with the light board?? I am thinking I might just do it... if I make a good cut I should be able to reseal it for water not getting in... |
