I'm going to try a conversion of another MC3030 first (I like that radio too much to buy a taranis).
ordered another board for a later project, came packaged very well, thank you again.

still waiting for my LCD to arrive though

since there is enough space in the MC3030 I got one with the biggest active area I could find:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/182100726246

it has a ST7565R controller so it should work without issues right?
I got the version with PCB so I can connect it to the board pins without fpc cable issues.

ordered it a month ago... sometimes things from china take a while ^^

Yes, your LCD should be working fine.

Pro Line!

This is definitely my next conversion and so excited in bring it alive.

Pro Line is the reason why ARUni board height is less than 2 inches.

It would be a nice conversion!

Can you provide details on:

1. Trims: I see you removed the trim potentiometers - what do you plan on using? Digital trims are needed to enter the special modes in ErSky or OpenTx.

2. Display: Where and how would you install the display? What size are you planning to use?

3. Battery: What battery where and how do you plan on mounting it?

These old trannies had relatively small cases which were filled with big gimbals, trim pots, battery box and very little room left for the electronics so the PCBs were often designed to go around the mechanical components. This makes them somewhat different to retrofit with universal boards like the ARUni with LCD.

Yes, got some plans for trim levers, LCD, battery and of course love to show all here.

one of major goals is not destroy or damage of case or it's look & feel.

give me some moments please, I'll have prepare something to show first.

Thanks.

That's exactly what I am after - do a nice upgrade without changing very much the original look of the transmitter. This is the hardest part in a conversion and takes a lot of thinking figuring out different ways of doing it and preparation for the actual conversion. After that the conversion is somewhat trivial.

Sure, take your time. This is not something we do in a day or two.

In my opinion what destroys the looks of the old radio is the LCD
But we need it, right?
Maybe not if we use eepskye to do the programming. but then you might need a laptop at the field even to change models

I've converted several ProLines and Krafts using the 9XR board/er9x and some of them are shown here:
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=2107185
I'm currently working on a ProLine single stick with AR9x and the Custom Competition with AR-Uni.
It's much simpler than using a 9XR board with the MegaSound card.
I'll add pictures when they're done.
