Syma X9 Flycar Drone Car Drive Flight Test Review

Here's something very new and cool. It's an RC car, and it's a drone. It's both! Find it here with free shipping for $33.99 with coupon code JRSM9. When on the ground, it's a car, and includes powered two wheel drive and proportional steering. But give its propellers some throttle, and it takes to the air as a six axis stabilized drone. It can even flip. Includes cool lighting, making it a great night flier also.

Pro's
- Well designed and well built. This is no contraption like previous car/drone attempts. This one actually works, and works well.
- Very stable flier. Should be easily flown by beginners.
- Transition between car and drone is very smooth. Can easily and repeatedly swap back and forth from ground to air.

Con's
- Battery is unusual, but can also use generic 350 to 380 mah batteries from micros.
- Flips can lead to the car settling to the ground.

and here's my flight with it:

Does the speed rate button work in ground mode, and I wonder if you could use the X8C transmitter to get better range as well as modding some rubber tires to give it more grip on the road since it uses foam tires.

Just flew it in the desert today with the X8C controller. Worked very well, and it flew very far (video to follow). But the rate button doesn't seem to change anything in ground mode. It only has an effect when in the air.

Sounds good, mine should be here in a couple of days.
If you could fly it with your x8c tx then my Devo tx should work too.

Can you tell what motors are in it?

How is the driving experience? It's more like a car or a quad?

Amazing! When it's a flycar, they have to get the lights right! Red at rear.

It's better and much smoother as a quad than as a car. The steering is a little touchy, and it can easily veer off course with a little over-correction of the pitch roll stick,

Not very fast, about the same as on the concrete walk.

It's a lipo.

Speaking of batteries is there a good source of spare 600 mah or above batteries that will fit?
