Here's something close...

Here's a three view of not the highest resolution of the Canadian version.

http://www.rcaf.com/1997_2010_presen...rora/index.htm

Also http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/p-3.htm has a simple three view.

Orion build

I`ve finally started the build of the Oroin p3.Pictures to follow this evening

I`ve gone for 4x gws 350-d`s with 10" four bladed props and spinners (the same recomended power train for thier mustang)
Working from the props, the model is-
78" span
84" long
8" diameter fusalage
To be fitted with retracts and flaps.
the target weight is 6-6.5lb.

All foam cores are now cut and fuse cores joined together with expanding polyester foam.
I can`t decide as yet to which type of skin to use on the fuse, the choices are-
glass and epoxy
paper and pva
or a balsa/veneer skin.

The wings will be balsa skinned then glassed.

I`m still looking for colour schemes, the favorite at the moment being the Norweigen blue (sounds like a parrot!!!) can anyone help?

Jerry - those are some awesome props, but the squared tips look like the C-130, vice the rounded tips of the P-3.

RDV - I believe the Norwegians still paint theirs a kind of tannish grey. The Dutch use a very dark blue grey with a very light grey underside.

I think the most spectacular scheme around today is that of the firefighting P-3s out in the northwest. Beautiful orange-red and white.

Hope this helps!!

Oooo, this is a cool project! I've been very tempted to build one of these as a sloper... really looking forward to seeing how yours works out! The only bummer about the firefighting P-3 is the dang protruding retardant tank added to the belly...ugly! Love the color scheme though...

Keep us posted!

Start of build

These are the first of the foam fuse core.
200MM dia- which is a parallel tube with 2xcones at rear and shaped block at the front.
More pix to follow

Looking good so far! Not exactly "throw in the back of the car" size, but they do fly better when they're bigger...

SOME MORE
The "FAT" chap is Cliff Evans who`s interest has encouraged me to continue.
At the moment it is only 3.25lb in weight, so the target of about 7lb is still within reach
