Thread OP
Hey Joe, We're all waiting for an announcement from Hitec RCD on whether or not they're going to import it or not (hoping they will), Xpress.. is a customer service rep for them and when the decision is made I'm certain he'll share the news!

Been scouring the internet for more photo's but all that I've been able to turn up are these photos of the Multiplex display from faszination modellbau friedrichshafen 2015 on facebook.

Jim_W, The climate change might be pretty drastic this time of year! I hear you though, I have relatives in the Netherlands and have considered seeing if I could have one sent if it's going to be a while before they arrive here. I'd probably wait to see what the initial customer reaction to it is first though.

Hoping to see the XL soon at my field around next month, I'm pretty sure there's a lot of interest.

Did they have any flight demo's with it at the fair in Germany?

Also interesting to see how it compares to the CZC, I'm kinda supprised the XL runs also on 6 Cells for this size.

But in the meantime I'll just keep enjoying my XXL

CZC / great November day 2015 (14 min 59 sec)

Some more detailed pictures can be found at this post in the German forum:

I'm temted to just order a kit (179,99 Euro) anyway, have a nice 60A ESC from E-flite and a spare Hitec Optima 7 reciever. Can use my 2x 6S-3700mAh packs or 2x 3S-3300mAh's.

Only thing to find out is a good and cheap motor (can't find any specs online about that new Permax, besides it's a 4235 / 480kv) and maybe an alternative for the Hitec servo's..

Could also use 4 Hitec's and HS-225BB and 4 cheaper servo's for flaps, tow and bay release.

Let's do a quick shopping list in Euro's :
-----------------------------
XL Kit : 179,99
http://tinyurl.com/ppfyo3s

Motor : ? (SK3 4250-500 : 32,- ??)
http://tinyurl.com/ovqudtx

ESC : ? (have an E-Flite 60A - a Plush 60A = about 30,-)

Prop : Xoar 15x8 15,90
http://tinyurl.com/ntqqsqr

4x Hitec HS-225BB : 63,96
http://tinyurl.com/qgjwcks

4x extra servo's : ? (let's say 35,-)

Extra:
MPX Multilight LED set : 45,-
http://tinyurl.com/ng3z7rr

Optional things to buy later:

Kavan wheels : Size ???

Float set XL : 52,90
http://tinyurl.com/nop2vqm

Maybe it's just as easy to get the RR at 380,-
http://tinyurl.com/ofj734h
The kit wil set you back around 360,- if you make a quick count with above list. DAMN..

Any suggestions to make it a lot cheaper?
Could swap the Xoar for a APC, but that's less than 10 bucks. Maybe cheap servo's make a differents, but with the RR you have a quick build and 6 Hitec's..

The kit is just to WAY to expensive!

I would suggest just buying the Carbon Cub if you want a large foam Cub.
The PNF (RR) is less than the XL KIT build and you get a lot more plane for that money:

354,89 EUR http://www.hobbydirekt.de/product_in...FUg8GwodXXkNJQ

Not sure what Multiplex is thinking, but they are making a mistake with these price tags...

Thanks CubCrafter, I'm pretty certain they will eventually import it as well - I mean, how many Multiplex planes aren't imported? I'm in the market for a new plane to act as a trainer for a friend; would the regular size FunCub be a good trainer> I ask because the only MP plane I've ever built and flown was the FunJet.
Thanks!

The Multiplex Mentor is the best trainer. But it's discontinued (at least here in Europe)

Still wonder if they will come out with a new version.

The Mentor has / had the same wingspan as theFubCup XL at 1700mm / old Funcub = 1400mm

The Funcup can be used as trainer, but a airframe like the Mentor would be the better choice.

But the Carbon Cub list price is 429.99 euro, so we'll have to wait and see what the actual shop price is for the XL, and the shop you quote typical has a 15 to 20% discount on Multiplex planes too.

I'm not a hater, I was very interested in it otherwise I would not spend time to check how much a build would cost me.

I love my MPX planes, and I fly with Hitec Aurora, I'm not here to bash the brand at all.

If you make something that looks like a small CZC don't be suprised people will compare them.

I bought my CZC for 385,- 2 seasons ago. You can find it for less at most online shops.

In general Multiplex prices do not drop very fast, the prices you see now for the FunCup XL will probable stay for a long time.

The CZC may look attractive but it is much bigger and that will not work for some.
