Elian Gonzales - 15 Years Later

Apparently no regrets about his life after being returned to Cuba.

Considering he was treated as a hero and put on a pedestal why would he have regrets? If he had to live like a common cuban it would probably be a different story.

How does a common Cuban live? The idea of this 'action' was to return a small boy to his legal father after his mother had died. Sounds like a success story to me. Now, as a legal adult, he is free to choose his life. It sounds as he has and he is happy with that.

Sounds like he's grown up to be a nice brainwashed commie stooge on the prison island. Meanwhile, his mother is still dead from her escape attempt to give him and her real freedom.

Oh look, he's on the neighborhood "Be A Good Commie or Else" committee.

Anyone else notice how current American liberals are admiring Communism and Socialism more and more? Feel the Berne!!

As a legal adult in cuba he is not free to choose his life. Given his status as a symbol of propaganda he has many privileges others don't.

Sounds like young Mr. Gonzales isn't the one who is brainwashed.

So, because we had an embargo to Cuba, his mother died, that's what he stated. He blames the U.S. for his mother's death.

Unless of course you heard something else?

Poor Cubans, one country out of 200 embargoed trade but welcomed escapees from the prison and it's all our fault they still drive 1950 cars and live on $50/month.

Cry me a river.

Speaking of crying, JFK is likely weeping in heaven over today's US liberals celebrating life in a Commie prison.

Yep, you can be sure Pipe wouldn't make any effort to move there to relish in his socialist Utopia .

Seems like his Miami Relatives were right after all.

"Elian's Miami relatives argued if the boy went back to Cuba, he would become a brainwashed trophy for Castro in his long-running feud with the U.S."

Not that I necessarily admire those social/economic/political systems which are different than ours but I don't consider Cuba exactly a 'prison island'. I also don't think they're a whole lot worse off than their Caribbean island neighbors of Haiti or the Dominican Republic.

What I do despise is the mindless rhetoric of the USA's right wing (ever so rampant on this forum). We implemented a foreign policy for over 50 years which wasn't working. We finally got a President who had to the balls to decide, "Time to try something different."

As far as a vacation destination for me - definitely!
