Build Log

Star Wars Lambda Shuttle

Getting underway on a build of a Lambda class shuttle, starting from enlarged paper craft plans. The structure is a mix of 6 and 3 mm depron, laminated with the printed paper. It'll run a 250 motor set, and have folding wings

You know the wings need servo's! Too cool to leave out a few last drops! Thanks for sharing

That's in the plan Working on the servo linkage now. It's a lot of travel, so I'm trying to use a pulley arrangement.

Great job man, looks good. Cant wait to see more.

Maybe a continuous rotation servo on a pulley system?

Nice! Looks like it's less than 180 degrees so a servo stretcher might work. Servo city has some and I think HK might have some smaller ones?

How did you paint it. Printed out panels? Looks really good.

I enlarged the paper craft plans, and printed them on a plotter. They've been attached wo the foam with 3m77, then hit with a matte clear coat.

Got the wing fold mostly figure out this afternoon

Bit of a diversion on this one. I got pretty close to flying, but have to re-work the wing fold.

To break through my airplane writers-block, I did another little project as we reach maximum hype for Episode 7!

Finally got around to finishing this one up. Took a long time to get the wing folds proper, and the other paper details were a bit of a pain.

Flies nice, and making the wings go up and down is super satisfying

Should get video soon-ish

Magic Adam! I noticed you didn't show the takeoff or landing. How do you do that with the downward facing props? Hand catch?
