Well, the traffic light on intersecting road was red, so apparently he had green. So no harm, no foul.

It was Santa Ana Airport. You gotta figure on things like that happening from time to time.

PS nobody who is flying, calls it "John Wayne airport". It's "Orange County" over the air, and SNA on your baggage claim ticket.

Some years ago a trainer landed IN a local college quadrangle after an engine failure. Nice flying by the instructor-she DROPPED it in with no damage.

The amazing thing to me is that the pilot was able to time it so he had a green light (or else just got incredibly lucky). Can you imagine the carnage if the light had been red?
