Need to find out if this will fly my DR1......
I have one of those IMAA legal Dr 1 arf's that great planes sells and it's way overpowered with my OS 120 FS. I've got a 19cc weedwhacker that runs very nicely and turns a Zinger 16X8 at 5600 rpm, which delivers 5.86lb of static thrust. The plane will weigh just a shade under 9lb. Will this be flyable? I fly the plane at under 1/2 throttle all the time, which is about the same rpm as the gasser at full throttle.

Randall,
Youv'e wandered into the electric power forum. The lurkers here are going to advise you to use a motor from Hacker, Aevox or MaxCim. We could get you fixed up great with a system that would give you loads of clean and quiet power, but we can't really give you any useful input regarding gasoline weed whacker engines. If the weed whacker was cordless electric, well... |
