Kevlar Cloth & 2.4GHz

Jim:

I've always understood that Kevlar cloth is transparent to 2.4GHz signals and my experience with THIS INSTALLATION of a Nano in a Zupair Z1 seems to bear witness to that. But someone I fly with recently insisted that Kevlar blocks 2.4.

What is your experience/opinion? Is Kevlar 2.4GHz friendly?

There are absolutely zero issues with Kevlar. It's construction contains no metal or metallic properties. It's no different than fiberglass cloth as far as RF is concerned.

That has been my understanding all along, but I appreciate your confirmation.

How about kevlar soaked in resin? I vaguely remember that there were some plastic or silicone rubber or glues (?) that could interfere, as the tip was given to not apply the offending stuff over the area on the Nano where the antenna attaches.

The problem with direct contact on the Nano has to do with capacitance between to the two balancing coils. You can put glue on the label, but what was happening was people were removing the Nano's label and then putting glue between the antenna wires (where the coils are located). That was a problem.
