I maiden one of these airplanes for one of our older club members and I was surprised to see nicely it flew. He build as an electric plane and converted it over into a tail dragger. A little heavy for its size, but it flew well. If anyone is looking for a nice docile sportplane this would be a good choice, specially considering the price.

Picking one up from a local gentleman, I would like to use a 120 size epower motor and 100amp esc on 6 cell 5000 pack .
My plan is to use this plane as a fun " battery drain" for my 6 cell packs and 8 cell packs designated for my warbirds. As always my warbird flights are not uneventful and many times I am going home with a charged 6 cell pack. These Kaos planes seem to be a very reliable format for fun and consistent flying. Any concerns for a 120 and can i go larger on the wheels to get a 16x10 epower prop ? Thanks |

Make it into a tail-dragger to clear the prop. You'll never get there on trike gear. I had real trouble trying to swing just a 12" prop on a 4 stroke 60 on mine.
It's going to be very heavy... high wing-loading. I guess if you're used to warbirds, you've flown a few highly loaded wings in your day. Personally, I wouldn't do it. I'd wire up some 12v halogen bulbs in a series/parallel configuration to drain your batteries. That's what I do with my 6S batteries. |

I am very familiar the heavy wing loading but this plane is designed to fly on 6s. Most of the weigh will come from the battery regardless of the motor choice.
Some great videos on line with a 6s set up and the plane really handles the 6s configuration. I am thinking the 120 is simply a poor choice because I cant really get the true power out of the motor do the prop limitations. I may go with the rimfire 80 or a cheaper 500KV motor, lots of good options in the 500kv range. Thanks for the comments ERKQ, all good input! |

I ended up with a 60 rimfire , 100 amp esc and 6 s pack .
Absolutely love the set up ! I get an average of 6 or more mins at 75 % throttle and I cab push full throttle at any time . Guys flying glow can not believe the performance of this plane and the sound is great ! A full summer of fun and always my go-to plane , now cleaned and stored for winter , the Kaos is by far my reliable plane on this set up. By the way , tested 6 s Turnegy Zippys and 6 s Graphenes , both gave great performance but the Graphenes fit perfect and provide longer flight times.; |

What size are the Graphenes? I have a number of Glacier 5300 6S lipos I use in my Meridian and Seagull iSport, with eFlite Power 60 motors. They fit well and allow adjustment for CG. I also have a Glacier 5000 and 5500 6S. They're longer, which doesn't work as well, especially in the taildragger. I have a Extreme Flight 500KV motor from their 60 size 3D planes and a 70 amp ESC sitting around I thought might work well in the Kaos.

I'm thinking of getting the kaos 60, had one 30 years ago and loved it.
Was thinking of using the Cobra C-4130/12 with 13x6.5 APC, CC Talon 90 esc and 6s 5000mAh packs. any opinions on this setup? I fly from grass so I'm hoping the ground clearance will be okay. Looks good to me. I have one coming. I'm using an Extreme Flight Torque 4016T/500KV motor that I have on hand, and a Talon 90 and 5000/5300 mAh batteries. I have another 60 size plane with an E-Flite Power 60 motor, slightly less powerful than the one you suggest. I use a 14x8.5 and 15x8 (and it's a tricycle gear also). I think the 13x6.5 would be a little underpropped for that motor. You'll only get around 900 watts, but your flight times will be long. I play with eCalc online to get an idea of what props to try.

Thinks for the reply.
Innov8tive tests their motors and according to their tests it should get 1122 watts. Here is the charts of the props tested http://innov8tivedesigns.com/images/...0-12_Specs.htm |
