Build Log

Tissan Haifa Banana 2000

Its a beginners 2 channel RC plane.

Power is up to 1cc (recommended engine is a Cox .049).

Im by far not a beginner flyer and building one only for nostalgic reasons.
This plane is one I grew up with in the early 80's when the RC virus hit me (being infected and sick ever since).

Back in those days guys flew it using Cox .049 Blackwidows, Tee Dee .049/.051/.09 and also O.S. 10FSR or FP.

Im planning on my O.S. 10LA, been sitting on the shelf for some time waiting for an airframe (have a Cox Tee Dee .049 & .09 but keeping them as collection).

Its a kit made in Israel.

Looking over the drawings I noticed that there's been a few changes since the original design back in the early 80's (still have the original drawings).

I would strengthen the spar with a .10. It is made for an .049 to .06. Looks like fun though.

Definitely strengthening the wing spar and going to even add some extra webs.

Started tonight with the fuse doublers.

I have to admit that the kit is very impressive.

The fuse sides already had the markings for all the fuse ribs, even the power switch and control hindges are already cut.

Wood selection is excellent.

You will not be disappointed, kit quality is like the old OK Pilot kits with a bit of touch (parts are machined and sanded to fit).

On a O.S. 10 its a fun little rocket, on a Cox Tee Dee .049 it flies very graceful.

Tee Dee .051 or .09 is a happy mid (Novel .074 would be awesome).

When its out of fuel and its time to land, it glides forever (some have even converted this plane into a fun slope glider).

With an .049 it weighs 550g ready to fly.

Back in the days the guys that flew with the O.S. 10 had the servos behind the trailing edge for ease of balance.

Back then we used standard size servos that were much heavier and bigger then today's servos + the batteries and RX were much heavier.

Im going to be using micro servos and Li-Fe or Li-Po battery.

Planning to shorten the nose a bit to compensate for that and might even consider putting the battery somewhere in the tail, will see how goes.

The OS muffler is pretty heavy. If your field allows no muffler it may be something to try for a better balance. You could shorten the nose a bit if there is still room for a tank.

Was thinking about taking the mid section off/extension to reduce weight.

Ready for rear sheeting.

Need to glue newly cut firewall and sheet the front.

Reinforced the number 2 & 3 ribs with carbon + added the throttle pushrod.
