P40 Kits??

Hi all,
Does anyone know of a good P40 kit out there that would be a good slow or parkflyer?
I'd prefer to have a built up balsa kit, as I'm not to familiar with working with foam.
Many Thanks!

Bryan,

I recently ordered an FFX P40 kit. It's all foam and meant for S400 class motors. It doesn't quite fit your bill, but i've read good comments on these planes.

Thanks Rooster,
I have put together a Tiger Moth, More like assembling than building.
Thats about all my experience with foam, but I'd like to take a look at that plane. I did a search but couldn't find it.
Do you have a link?

Here is larger foam P-40 ripe for electric conversion: http://www.sureflite.com/htms/w_p40.htm Mine is in progress now. The only real work is the cowl construction. It comes in four pieces. Trim a little at a time, tape the pieces on the foam fuse for the best fit then glue one seam at a time.

Best regards

P-40 just so happens to be my favorite aircraft Bryan. I fully understand your reservations to working with foam.

I would however like to tell you of a recent customer that bought a kit and hesitated to build it for about a week. Once he got started, the plane took shape very quickly and he could barely stop until it was almost completely finished.

The wings are made on a C.N.C. hot wire machine and need very little work to finish (Clark-Y airfoil). The fuselage is 90% pre-shaped and only takes about 45 minutes to sand to shape.

Everyone so far spends more time on "personalizing" the scale details than the actual construction of the aircraft.

I thank you kindly for the reference Rooster287. I will make a call to your FFX dealer and see if I can speed things up (if it hasn't already been shipped).

So when are we gonna see the FFX FW190 or Russian Yak?

I often look up into the sky and ask "Why don't they want what I have in stock? I made them inexpensive enough to buy a few".

I hope to be accepting none-profit (or none worth mentioning) donations around the beginning of March for the next phase of the F.F.X Park Fighters most honorable LawnDart.

There will be 4 new ones to choose from. A FW-190-D9, Hawker Hurricane MKll, P-39 Airacobra and Russian YAK-7. So did you say you want one of each LawnDart?

Well Ken,
It looks like you sold me on the P40.
I like the looks of it a lot, and I definitely like the quick assembly.
I have always liked the P40 as well.
I hope to do one in a Wheeler Field version. I guess I have seen Pearl Harbor just one too many times.

Thanks once again all!

Actually the P-40 on my website started out that way RCflybry but by popular demand I threw the signature teeth on it.

I spoke to the local dealer today Rooster and your P-40 is in transit on it's way to you already.

Please send me pictures of your finished aircraft folks. I am adding new customer photos all the time and I need P-40's.

Best regards,

Bryan,

I was somewhat hesitant to work with foam, as most of my models were balsa. I had a couple of foam kits I had ordered (prior to Ken's) with extra foam pieces. I decided that before I started to build, I would do some testing with these kits.

I have to say that after working with foam for a short while now, i'm very impressed (especially the pink foam). It's easy to sand, route, etc. and quite strong.

After seeing the different kits Ken had to offer and the VERY positive reviews, I jumped in.

Ken - I appreciate the call to Tom at Skyhooks. I called him last week and he was very helpful.

Regards,
Rooster
