This is important to read and discuss.

To designate it would be one thing.

To send their fleet of drones out without fear of encroachment by hobby flyers would be quite another.

And how exactly do they suppose I thermal a sailplane and keep it up in lift in 200 AGL or less? The lift floor doesn't start at anything less than 200 ft in a lot of cases.

They propose that you only do that sort of flying: ".....confined to geographically demarcated airfields in relatively unpopulated areas that would be set aside specifically for the purpose.

Kimchi said that Amazon did not envisage much change in the way modelers operate under the new proposal. “They will have low-risk areas in more rural areas where they can continue to fly safely to their heart’s content.”

Amazon likely doesn't care at all about your flying and will happily disrupt it and step on you in their quest for more billions.

In Southern California we have NO rural areas, this would shut down every flying field here. Skynet of Terminator is getting closer.

The "a" holes with all the money are going to crawl up your butt and own the air space inside you before they are done. In the name of commerce we will lose our hobby as well as our privacy. Can you imagine quads flying every where 200 feet above your head. They aren't exactly silent flyers. No kite flying at parks....might intrude into Amazon's airspace. No hot air balloons...They can't predict exactly where they will have to transit "Amazons" airspace when descending to land. PETA will have a field day with all the bird midairs. When will it end. I just want to fly my sailplanes in peace. They don't pollute. They don't bother anyone. They're quite. Boycott Amazon!!!!!!!

Looks like the rich companies with lots of money are going to try to grab the airspace for themselves. A 200 foot ceiling is laughable for most RC model airplanes. But the companies with the money can bribe the congressmen and are likely to get their way then. The commercial helicopter pilots are not going to like this either.

Boycott? Naw... just make interceptors and grab all you can... If one thinks stealing Amazon boxes off a porch is easy, wait till all the goods are only 200' away from taking.

Big company.... little monkey wrench...

Unfortunately Amazon might have more pull and a better audience to achieve this goal, especially because they have the money and power to lobby this to their advantage. In the end of this, money talks and bs walks. The politicians could care less about privacy and hobbyist's rights, when their greedy pockets are being lined to look the other way Unfortunately Our hobby may be doomed.......

Counter proposal: Bump commercial/GA minimum up to 1500' AGL, give commercial drones 1200'-1400' and hobbyist 0'-1100'. Gyro/weight-shift/powered chute LSA'a would operate below the Amadrone zone - balloons above and below.

That would pose significant hardship in congested areas. There are VFR corridors that are heavily traveled below 1,500'.
