My Iraqi friend and his friends!

A photo of my good friend Hashim Addeb (light color shirt), in Baghdad, with a few US Soldiers. I spent three years in Iraq in the 80's and met some of the finest people ever, despite of what some people think of Middle Easterns in general...

He even supplies fuel to few Marines who run RC cars so they can enjoy some relaxing moments!

Thanks for sharing this picture with us Arthur. Any chance we can get Hashim to post here too. Would really like to see some more fellow RC Modelers from Iraq joining this site and tell us more about their planes and places they fly at.

Hey Hashim!!! You heard the man, now talk to us, man!!

I actually talk to Hashim on the phone and Yahoo!Messenger all the time, he's one of the best modelers I've met. What those guys do to keep R/C alive in Iraq is UNBELIEVABLE! Their planes, for example, don't have a SINGLE PIECE of balsa wood!

By the way, I'm trying to gather some materials/parts/whatever at my club to send to Iraq. We'll be sharing DHL shipping charges too. If anyone from this Forum would like to participate please PM or email me. Thanks in advance!!!

Let me know what can be sent, I will get with the LHS owner and club members and see what we can do to help. See if we cant do up an R/C care package for the troops as for your friend there. Great idea lets all get involved.

I would think AM Cross still has some pull with Horizon, I would bet a cookie that if one were to contact her, she could pull a few strings for a good cause and Horizon would help. Just a thought.

Hey are you the same guys that sent a letter to MAN?? I saw a letter from some guys over there on iraq that flew model airplanes and there was a description of their equipment and all...it really is incredible..if i'm correct fuel is homemade. Unfortunatly the news only shows negetive sides of things mostly, i'm pretty sure many more positive things like this happen all the time.

Wow! Make your own fuel. No balsa wood. And I wish I had a nickle for every time I've read a post complaining about having to drive 20 miles to the nearest club field and *gasp* wait for an instructor.
