NEW Finwing Sabre 1900 - Full Review and Build Log

The Sabre will soon be the newest model of FPV aircraft from Finwing, known for their excellent Penguin FPV plane. Finwing graciously sent a pre production sample of this new plane for me to review. I only received the airframe kit so all the electronics I am installing in it are my own. I'll be using the Eflite Power 25 for a motor since I have a spare one in the shop.

What Comes in the Box

I can't believe that they got a plane this big in a box that small! Once again I was impressed with the quality of Finwing's kits and how well thought out everything is.

The Build

It looks to be a fairly straight forward build. If you've put together an EPO plane before you shouldn't have any issues.

Looking forward to the review. I'm a FPV fan but not so much the quads. Been looking for a good fixed wing platform.

What kind of foam is used?

It's EPO foam, the same as the Penguin and Air Titan. The nice thing about EPO is that you can use regular CA on it without damaging the foam.

Ran into some issues last night with the Eflite Power 25 motor. It's from my T-34 that crashed, and the shaft got bent. I have a replacement shaft for it already. I tried to replace the shaft last night and got the first two grub screws out but now the third is jammed in there and I stripped it trying to remove it.

I'll work on getting the jammed grub screw out and replacing the shaft. If worst comes to worst there are more efficient motors I can get for the Sabre, I'm using the Power 25 because I had it lying around the shop waiting for a new project.

Multiplex uses something called "Elapor". From what I understand it is pretty much the same thing as EPO.

I know how difficult it is to get those ever so tiny screws out of the motors when they are stripped or the head part is worn out. I used a micro drill bit and do a reverse drill and pop it out.
What FPV system you putting in it? Also what will be the total weight of it.
SO HURRY UP AND BUILD IT!! LOL
Oh and have fun with it.

Yeah I still can't get that grub screw out. At this point I'm very close to ordering a Scorpion motor. They're really expensive but super efficient.

I pulled the trigger on the Scorpion motor this morning and updated the Parts List.
