F3K Companion - a new F3K / DLG timer App for competition & training

Hello from Germany,

from the beginning of this year i have developed a new F3K self & competition timing App for Android smartphones & still in progress for Android smartwatches.

The F3K Companion has a couple of features which so does not exist yet.

If you are interested in - here you can find some infos:

Kind Regards from Germany, Herten

The motion detection (self timing) aspect of this makes it very interesting to me. I'll certainly check it out.

Does this simply set the window timer for the first launch or do you have some detection for landing as well?

I'm not as bad as they say.
I bought it to play with.
It looks promising. I like being able to see all the times on the screen.
I have some issues that prevent it from being useful for competition right away:

1) No way to start a 5 (or other) second countdown to window start. I usually start my window timer on the 5 second count before the window. I can simulate this with this app by sliding the window time to 10:05, for example, but it resets when I reset the timer.
2) Reset, resets the time and the task. The button is also big and easy to hit. Resetting the time should be on a pull down, something hard to get to. This is no good if you accidentally hit the start button and need to reset quickly right before the round.
This also clears all the times. I think resetting the window should do just that, reset the window. Make separate functions for resetting the scores, etc.
3) Task M is missing
4) I don't see any way to modify the tasks
5) There is no exit function.
6) In all up last down there is no window timer and no way to start the window timer. In this task the opening horn is 3 seconds, so the launch may be 1 or 2 seconds after the start of the window. Thus the window and flight time may not line up. Also the 1 minute time between windows isn't shown.
7) In poker, if you fail to make the time there is no visual difference from when you make the time in the scoreboard down at the bottom.

I'll look forward to updates.

Hi Tom,

you have to whistle for landing detection.

Hi Mickey,

What does this app do that F3KMaster doesn't?

This app is not nearly as full featured as F3KMaster but competition is good.
A rising tide raises all boats.
Seeing all flown times on the screen at once is handy.
Launch and start window can be done at the same time also.

As long as the developer is willing to take feedback and make improvements I'm willing to provide feedback.

A couple more notes:
1) For competition timing/training I need to see the fractions of a second at least to tenths
2) The turnaround time for quick turns need to be measured and displayed, also to tenths.

Hi Mike,

differences and advantages are i.a. (partly of course only my own opinion):

- During trainig and self timing you can stop flight time by whistle. Stopping time by shaking or movement can eg undesirable happen.
- The F3K Companion timer display is "tidy" and the display of the working and remaining flight time to the task "target" is bigger - so easier to read.
- More direct information on the Timer screen: complete flight time, flight time counted for the selected task, unprecedented Score and displaying "free" ground times.
- A digital score card is available! Suitable for any flight task, there is a logic, for example, highlighting by color:

green -> full flight time reached & evaluated
black -> flight time counted
white -> flight time is not considered
red -> flight invalid

- For Task E (Poker) there is an input method / -ability for the times announced by the pilot!
- The Companion has less overlapping voice outputs.
- In future versions, there is an independent SmartWatch app F3K Companion Wear.

Hint: my app is not for flying online contests as in F3K Master - my app is a stopwatch for real competition.

Kind regards
Joerg

Hi!

The smartwatch i use for training, timing and development is a LG G Watch R.
I think my F3K Companion wear runs on any android wear smartwatch.

The Wear Companion app coming soon - i think that i still need about 1 month to be ready.

My App is not compatible with iWatch.

Kind regards

I purchased the app to help support development; mostly interested in the Android watch application; always have my Sammy Gear 2 on at field.

Only problem is that I cannot whistle worth a darn; once had a pet bird that mimicked my poor whistling skills.....A hot day and dry mouth won't be much help either. How about start and stop verbal commands, or even uncommonly used words like tallyho and knockitoff?

Start & stop the flight timer with hardware volume buttons is now optional possible in the new F3K Companion full version - please update.

Currently i am working hard on the F3K Companion smartwatch version.

After that i will implement user suggestions!
