However, after removing the rudder I inverted my hull and the top collar simply dropped onto the floor. The lower collar also fell out with a little encouragement with a finger. The combination of a very short rudder tube and loose collars were allowing the major movement.
Good news! Simply gluing the collars back in place has completely cured the problem.

Sounds like bad factory assembly. I'm sure water was leaking through same places into the hull...

Loose Rudder?

Fortunately, due to excellent design, the rudder shaft is within a moulded hull shaft and, like the fin shaft, no water can enter through either of these through hulls. Just a Friday hull in assembly, I guess.

Bridgeland Veterans Day DF 95 Regatta.
Twelve Dragonflite 95’s turned out for a beautiful day of sailing in Bridgeland. Fourteen skippers raced (77 and 777 were shared). One skipper (Vicky Stone) drove in from Austin. Scattered clouds and low 70’s temperature was a pleasant change from previous gatherings. Wind was 8 to 12 and shifty from the southeast to south. A great day of racing.

The DFlt95 will never catch an IOM upwind, especially in chop... but it sure can make up ground downwind
