Dornier Do 335 Arrow

I'm thinking about building a scratch-built "Arrow" from several 3-views and drawings and I'm stuck on a scale detail. Does anyone know whether the bottom side of the wing is flat in the center or is the wing higher up in the fuselage almost like a mid-wing plane, i.e. Bearcat, Wildcat. I can't tell from the photos and drawings.

The wing is only slighty up into the fuse. Send me your email address and I will send you some pics along with fuse cross sections.

Finally! Someone doing a Pfeil! This is a low-wing design, and the problem will be protecting the ventral fin during landing. Have at it, and make it go fast.

I started building a Do-335 out of EPP a while back. Almost done. Here is the thread that shows how I attached the lower fin. Hope this is of some help.

I would recommend the book by Marek Rys, "Dornier Do-335 Pfeil" Aircraft Monograph #15. There are 30+ sheets of three views and cross sections plus a bunch of color schemes for various model numbers from the prototypes through fighter/bombers, two seat trainers, etc.

Yay, a 335! I've looked at this several times. Yup, that lower fin is gonna need to be stout. Keep us posted!

Great subject for a PSS'r, Jeff! Can't wait to see more on this.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Jeff's work, here are his 2003 and 2004 PSS Festival entries. He does some fantastic work!

How did I miss your Do 335 thread? Nice work! When will you have it flying?

And just think, when you maiden it you can scream, "I Pfeil Good!"

I know, that was terrible. I couldn't help it!

Just finishing up panel lines, etc. Probably won't fly until Sep. During summer there are beach/slope access issues for the better slopes on which to maiden. After Labor Day, back to normal

Good one Steve. I'll "Pfeil" that one away for the big day. Double Groan.

Please build this beast (and make a mold). Would love to see it in fiberglass.

Thanks for posting those pics and the compliments.

I think a glass Do 335 would look awesome in the air. I don't plan on making a mold of it though. I'm going to go with the lost-mold method for the fuse. It should be fairly close to scale.....maybe stretch the wings 10% or less. A few years ago, I had a foamy of one with the same specs. and it flew fairly well.
