dr.E,

Not a bad idea. Maybe a biplane version of Beeker?

OK my fuse was 8.25" wide in the last 4 view.
And my cord was only 8" not your 10"

This is a bit more like yours now and I fixed the wing for you too.

Umm???
didn't I already see a Bipe looking version of this on the Forum, like yesterday ?

I think I commented on the similarity in that thread, or maybe not.
It was the Zimmy thread and I must not have saved my comment.

Wow Bob, that's amazing! That 4-view is dead on sir. I really like the window glazing.

I added about 2 deg upthrust to the motor. Fast taxi tests resulted in getting airborne for a moment before running out of room to go anywhere . On rollout, bumped a landscape light. (no damage) I think this guy wants to fly!

I saw your comment on the Zimmy thread. Yes, very similar, a bit rounder and larger.

Bob your killin' me! You are too fast my friend.

Just to let you know. And if it will change anything for you, the mid section of the fuse is double layer of DTF. On the next one, I would make the entire forward fuse a double layer to reinforce the sides, due to the large window cutouts. (fuse is a little weak near L.E.)

Don't feel bad,
I'm retired, I have all day to fool around.

I never use DTF but I have some.
Got it just to see if I liked it and see how well is cuts.

Now two layers of MPF might make a nice strong bouncy fuse.

I see your interior now and the doubling.
Nice work.

Clever use of Tywrap :-)

Yeah the windows do make weak spots.

I never could understand how Cessna High wings could last so long ?

This is my first attempt with DTF as well. Stiff with paper on. Flimsy without it. As of right now the fuse has paper only on the outsides and bottom pieces and tail has it on both sides. With the paper on one side, it curves nicely in the opposite direction which helped in pulling the nose together. But, I am unable to sand any corners nicely to give it a cleaner finish.

This has been a lot of fun so far, and this was something I never anticipated having your help with, but thanks again. I'm motivated now to get this thing trimmed and flying. Once proven to fly, and any weaknesses noted, I would be more than flattered to have you "cut away"!

Ya never know what might pique my interest and get me involved.
I even surprise myself.

I am glad if I motivated you.
Some guys would take offense at the intrusion.
But, I never could understand that attitude.

I'm working on the 3D mode in CAD , at the "NEW size" , to get the inner parts sized properly.

When I feel good about them I'll put them up here for you to check .

Basically it's a simple model and could be built by guys who have some experience and confidence in their abilities.

Still, to do it from scratch in 3D is a whole 'nother discipline.
That's why I like doing it. :-)

On another note: I think this is going to be a great Indoor model for the winter.
At some smaller scale though.

Maybe even 1/2 the current size.

Or maybe we could double the size and make a Lexan FPV canopy.

time will tell :-)

Be sure to VID that maiden flight !

Best

Bob

I love how quickly things evolve here.

Already thinking of a smaller, indoor model and also possibly a tractor configuration with a "Bugish" rear cabin area. Or... How about adding a step to it and fly it off water? Just brainstorming.

Thanks again Bob. It seems that the people having the most fun on RCG are here in the Foamie Scratchbuilt thread. I love scale models also, and am working , slowly, on an RV-3 currently in the scatch built thread. I just got a little distracted and wanted to put another foamie together for some fun. I love my Nutball, by Goldguy, and it has been such a blast to fly! So many interesting designs have started out here, and with your help, have been advanced and popularized. Keep up the great work!

Here is my 1st PDF attempt on the Beeker.

Comments welcome.

I can see where this version might be a little harder to put together.

I'm going to bed now.

C U Tomorrow :-)

thanx dave ! :-)
If you build it , then let me know if I've made any mistakes.

It's layed out for fanfold or MPF sized sheeting AKA 2' x 4'
