I'm being a little facetious but I'm also curious as to how you slopeheads feel about this.

I would keep the slope wing threads here, as they don't seem to pose a problem at the moment. Besides, I might want another wing some day, and I wouldn't want to have to venture into the wings forum to figure out what's hot and what's not.

I thought they already had a "packing material" forum But seriously, I think they are just fine here.

Free as a bird now.
If it's a slope wing, keep it here.

I agree, leave the sloper wing posts here.

BTW, I think I voted against creating a 'Flying Wing' forum a while back for this very reason. They fit into too many categories to lump them all into one.

What is the point of having a slope section if it doesn't have flying wings? Isn't this carrying fragmentation a bit too far? maybe there should a section for only slope crunchies, if we're going this way.

Move the threads!!????!!! Please don't do it!!!!

BTW I picked "Who gives a rip. I'm goin' flying!" from your poll.

Lol. This is funny. I'm sure there are a few pilots that would LOVE to be away from foam period. On the slope or the internet! EPP makes me feel dirty lol...

"Can't we all jest get along?"

The wing threads are fine. I started one a while ago BEFORE I found out that there had already been like five of them. It would be cool if newbies (or just newcomers to the forum) knew to do a search before posting a thread (myself included...) on any given subject. But hey, we were all new once, and it is kinda cool to start you own thread... Not to mention a "snap shot" in the midst of constantly changing technology and new products.

All in all I think it is healthy to keep all the slope stuff in one place, that way the community won't get "fragmented" any more than it already is.

Hope you feel the same...

Maybe we can create the
"Which flying wing is best?" forum
and the
"Which plank is fastest?" forum
and the
"Is a plank really a wing?" forum

Ya know what I've noticed.. Every plane, foam, glass, carbon,
wing, plank, conventional, etc.. has its place on the slope, because
not every slope is the same. Every specific slope glider design seems
to have a place (literally) where it *really* excells. Some are best
adapted to ocean cliffs and steady winds. Some to inland slermalling.
Some are faster on the frontside, some on the back. Some are stronger
because they need to be. The best combat wing tends to be the one
that everyone else is flying locally because they're more evenly matched.
Some places you can't land a crunchie, some places are just too
good not to throw one off anyway even if it results in frequent carnage.
Some days you want to go really fast and big, and some days you just
want to bash you glider into someone else's. I've got, I dunno.. 20 slope
gliders of all types and construction now, and yet I just built a new
combat wing Saturday, because I wanted to go fly combat and the 20oz
Zagi I haven't flown in over a year wasn't going to cut it.

There's a place for everything on the slope, just not all on the same
slope, at the same time.

Let's keep all slopers together as a family.
The current categories for sailplanes are just fine.

I was initially opposed to a flying wing forum because it seems like a silly sort of segregation to me. However, I have been participating over there and while the subject of discussion rarely involves much more than motorized Zagis and their ilk, from time to time there has been an interesting thread or two on flying wing design. So I've come around to warming up to it.

Even though I guess you're joking, I feel very strongly that flying wing threads related to slope soaring should stay here in the slope forum. Which of course comes as no surprise to anyone, but nevertheless, that's my opinion.

A sloper is a sloper is a sloper whether it bounces or goes crunch on contact with terra firma whether it has a tailplane or not. However if it has a motor then....

I have too many forums to look through already.

The various threads relating to flying wings which have already been posted in other forums will not be moved to the new flying wings forums.

"Who gives a rip. I'm goin' flying! "

If it's made for sloping, then it's a sloper...
