Twister Brushless Motors

Last week I sold all my I/C engines, both two and four strokes, starter motor, power panel an all, why?

Well I'm an electric convert, outrunner motors rule.

I got a Twister 29 (60) from Spot On R/C here in the UK after reading about them in QEFI. On the bench using 14 Gp3300's and a 13 x 8 E APC prop it was pulling around 29 Amps, 440 Watts for what seemed like forever. A few people in the QEFI Down Under articles had used this combination so I stuck to it for safety's sake, I reckon it easy matched a MDS 61 I had for thrust.

So into an old DB Mascot Trainer I keep airworthy for hacking around it went, much hacking and bashing was undertaken, will post picture when I've tarted it up a little.

OH MY GOD

I've never had the Mascot go so quick, it went vertical for the first time in its old 12 year life.

I was planning to put the Twister 29 (60) in a 69 inch Fokker DVII, I'm a biplane junkie. But I have the plans for a 80 inch DB Moth, I reckon it will easy pull it around as it can be run on 20 cells, 30 Amps and 600 Watt all day, with a 45 Amp 900 Watt run for 45 Seconds according to Spot On R/C, bigger prop of course.

Though I am looking, maybe should read drooling, at an old Galaxy Models Hornet I've got kicking around in my workshop.

I keep looking at the Twister 39 (90) at www.twisterbrushless.com , its calling my name.

If anyone out there has got any info on the different Twisters and cell/prop combinations data I would appreciate it being posted here.

Remember, outrunners rule.
