Retina Burner Combat in Hood River

This is a call to arms for the Retina Burner Combat Day. Saturday June 26. This is at the same site as the NW Fun Fly being hosted at the East Ridge slope site in Hood River, Or. Flying will start at 11:00 AM and go until your batteries give out or your eyes bleed, whichever comes first.
Try and make it if you can. We had 18 planes in the air last year for the first event and would like to get more this time around.
Helmets will be required this year so come prepared. Once again, no prizes, just bragging rights for the next 12 months.
I will post the wind forcast on this thread starting Thurs. before the event.
Hope to see you there.

If it's the same site that Eric pointed me to, it's gorgeous. Hood River Gorge about 40 miles east of Portland, Or. Beautiful country, unfortunately the winds were against me the whole week when I was up there this last week and it rained the whole time.

Thanks again Eric for the directions, it was worth the drive

Glad you found it okay, so sorry the weather was so rotten! But glad you had a chance to at least see the Gorge and the site, it is fun when the wind blows!

Sorry if I missed you up at Hood today. I went yesterday. The lift was excellent. How was it today?

I didn't go! I wanted to, but had stuff to do at home and time commitments so I stayed home and got stuff done. But I'm sure it was superb...

Good deal. The Florida boys are already starting to stir the pot a bit. I just started an L 39 from K&A that I hope to have finished for the Sunday event. Might have to call in well for a few days this week. Bagged the wings yesterday but have a ways to go yet. And the 4.2 M KA6 still needs the servos installed. Better get busy.

Here's a link for a map to the slope site at the East Ridge.
Look for the path that cuts to the left off of the dirt trail as it will save a hike to the wrong place. Also gives you a chance to scope out the LZ. Watch out for the lone Pine tree as it has some kind of magnetic force that sucks in slope planes. Weird.

you may wish to begin calling frequencies right now, that way people have a chance to make some adjustments before showing up if necessary.

What time of year was that? I see everyone is dressed warmly. Should we bring some some warm clothes?
