Build Log

FMS Bf-109E Round 3

Well this old bird flew away awhile back due to signal loss. (crappy Rx) Went down in the woods and all things considered very minor damage. Left wing broken off midway. Tail broken off, spinner smashed up. Again, going down in the wood sight unseen pretty moderate damage.

Let it stew for a few months but finally began the renovation and decided it needed a total overhaul yet again. Mostly just cosmetic this time with a new livery keeping with my penchant for N Afrika schemes. Will glass the wings with WBPU (thanks Microlyn) and reshape the spinner.

Going to repaint Black 8 desert scheme.

Great job Alan! It's going to look great.
Really love the new paint scheme choice!
We seem to have similar taste in 109 livery

Can't wait to see it done, this is the fun part!
How are you doing the markings?
For my KMP 109, after I change it over to an E 3, I thought I'd go with this scheme

Love that scheme. Would love to get one of those larger 109's like the ESM but I'm already space challenged with 1400 mm birds. Plan to do a Euro scheme on my FMS "F" repaint and Dynam "G" repaint. At my work speed I should finish around 2020!

Funny thing is Alan, no matter how many kits I have in boxes, I always seem to be looking for something new!?
I guess now I'm going to have to live to at least 100, for the sake of the hobby
Keep us posted on the repaint.

LOL me too. I am meeting a fellow RCG'er tomorrow to buy his Great Planes Fokker Dr 1. The 60" wingspan version. I need another plane/project like another hole in the head but logic does not enter the equation. Just was always intrigued with the triplane kites and never had one.

Cool!
I built a Ziroli Dr1 many moons ago with a G38.
It was a full time stick and rudder flyer, and take offs were always fun, and always flew it down
to land. Makes the 109 seem like a C152!

She's got spots! Still need to do the tropical air intake and the exhaust stub covers, MG's a bit of detailing and decals of course.

Johann what is that a Henschel? Not that familiar with that model. I do like the trop schemes though and they stand out here with all the green back drop. What are you working on at the moment?

Yeah, that's the Hs 129, one of the original "gunships".
This guy did a really great scratch built one out of EPP

Right now, I'm working on my Hobby Topgun Mig 15.

I'll probably start the KMP Bf109E after that.

Fist attempt at the tropical intake. Not happy with it. Back to the drawing board.

Looks cool Alan, Really love the cardboard, great idea! Maybe 75% longer and no wider or higher than the original.
I see what you mean about the screen, maybe double it up.
