Because every gram counts, what is the best option between sealing the hinges and adding weight or fixing the surfaces with tiny tape strips and save weight ? At low indoor speed does it make a difference to seal the hinges gap ?

Your question about sealing hinge line gaps is a good one. Until i built carbon ships, i always sealed the gaps with the tape i used for hinging. That much tape is way too heavy! If you want to seal the gaps you should try covering the fixed and moveable pieces with one piece of mylar. The difficulty with this is setting a gap between the pieces so that they move freely in both directions. I'm not sure it is a significant improvement. If it was we would see the top guys doing it and i don't think they do. Vince |
