Please help me with my gobrushless DIY kit

Hi,

I ordered the DIY kit from gobrushless.com, and I want to build it with a 2mm shaft, but the bell that came with the kit has a 3mm hole. I purchased the 6x2 bearings for a 2mm shaft, and I would just order a new bell with a 2mm hole; however, they only sell it for the 25mm stators, and I'm using the 22.7mm stator which comes in the kit. What do you guys think is most economical way to fit a 2mm shaft into a 3mm hole.

Cheers,

Eddie

How does one turn the end down? Do you mean on a lathe? And if I don't have access to one, is there an alternative solution?

Find a piece of 3mm OD 2mm ID material and use it as a sleeve, but I doubt you'll have success here.

You might find it easier to just adapt your prop/pinion or whaterver to the 3mm shaft. Thats what I did with my heli.

Hi Eddie,

Maybe the bell for the 25mm stator would work with the 22.7mm stator if you used 2mm thick magnets instead of the 1mm thick magnets provided in the kit.

I'll see what I can come up with, thanks guys. btw, Twister6er how did you get a 2mm pinion to fit? Did you just drill the hole in the pinion larger?

Are you planing on swinging a really big prop with the motor? Most people avoid gearing down the output of these motors. What often they do is decrease the RPM/v and raise the voltage and direct drive a prop. Unless it's a monster this is a much better route and less work on your part.

Perhaps a better thing is, what are you trying to swing with the motor?

Most the pinion gears for the 2mm shaft are also available for the s400 with a 3mm shaft.

Eddie, I just bought a 48 pitch pinion for a 3mm shaft. I think it was by HPI for an RS4 street car.

Its actually for my micro heli's (Century Hummingbird) main motor . I use a 10 and 11 tooth pinion for them. I also use micro rs4 pinions, but I don't think those come in 3mm, do they?

I'm also building a second for my tail, but I think the 3mm will work fine for that since I think I can just push the prop on with a gws rubber prop adapter.

Do you mean just I should just buy the stock can for the 25mm Stator, and use my 22.7mm stator, like what Bob said? Will I need to order the thicker magnets too?

What did you use for the shaft in this setup?
