Oculus Rift FPV flying with Meegopad T01

Oculus Rift (DK1/DK2) FPV flying with Mini PC

source and the binaries of the linux application can be found here

What do you need to make this work
- Meegopad T01
- video grabber linux compatible I tried
- easy cap ( STK1160 ) faster then the chvideocr around 40 msec (1 frame )
- chvideocr ( Conexant CX23103 ) is slower but has better sync control ,so less dropped video link
seems that CSUSBVG100 from konig is the same.
- 4 port mini USB 2.0 Hub.
- female to female HDMI converter
- for powering the Oculus usb to 5.5 barrel cable
- power bank with a 2.1 A and 1 A connection I use the Konig 7800 mAh. ( no that good )
you could also make the power bank your self especially if you need
high voltage for your receiver. then use an BEC to create 5 V

The rest is receiver specific
- I used a USBto 3.5 barrel cable to power my modified RC305. USB will only deliver 5.0 volts.

Start with he Backup, it for your safety
Manual for backup of your Meego : here
Manual for Install of the Oculus image :Here

update instructions :
- first make sure that you have internet connection, internal WIFI is still not working
- go to your home directory : cd ~
- go to the following directory : cd ~/src/OculusFPV
- get latest version : git pull
- go to your home directory : cd ~
- make a copy of your current FPV_VR.cnf : cp FPV_VR.cnf FPV_VR.back
- Copy new version to root directory : cp src/OculusFPV/bin/OculusFPV .
- copy your config back : cp FPV_VR.back FPV_VR.cnf
- run ./OculusFPV with video input.
- press : n
- Now you have the new configuration items.

I placed the manual ( see first post ) I will use the first post to had every status data.
It for now is only the backup of the Meego.
Let us first check if people can do this. It are a lot of steps but
I tried to write it in such away that every body can do it.
This will not touch the Meego and is 100% save.

Can I get a list of all items needed to complete the build, sorry if I missed something in the previous posts. What is the list of items you are using for example?

Great work! Really like the low latency! Any plan to use the internal head tracking to output ppm for pan tilt?

Went flying to day and I can confirm now that Conexant CX23103, is the better choice. even with moderated noise I didn't loose the image .

the Konig power bank is not that good 30-40% discharge it can't Handel the current anymore when the full image is white ( oled display ).

So I will make my own power bank with a lipo and a bec.

Hi Bart,

I'm in the process of downloading files per the install guide.

Do you have a link you could share for a Conexant CX23103 based grabber on ebay or Amazon?

Thanks
George

the one that I bought is only sold in europe :-(

here is a list of Video grabbers that use the chip
http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Conexant_CX2310x

tried to find one for you but I think it will be a gamble.
I will look tomorrow, need some sleep now

this one is low risk that I see now
EzCAP USB Video Capture Pro
it as more inputs, YPbPr, so not easy to fake,

To clarify a little bit the EasyCap, EZCap, easierCap.

These 3 can have the same chip set.
But for instances the EasyCap is already made with 4 different chip sets. And one of them is not directly supported by Linux.

http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Easycap
I have now the STK1160 EasyCAP compatible .
I still want to try Empia EasyCAP and the Somagic EasyCAP

Hi Bart,

I've been trying to download the multiple files from baidu service but am having multiple download failures with this service. Still trying. I'm finding the Chinese dialog boxes tough to navigate upon errors.

Both backup and install manual are there now.

In the Backup manual you can find a new download link. if everything is ok, then within 24 hours all files can be found there.

I am also going to make an ISO that you can put on a USB, and then boot from that USB. So you don't need to update the Meego.
