VIP weight - am I lucky?

Hi,

just got my VIP. They didn't have my colors - yellow/red so I choosed white blue.

Well what is very interesting. My VIP with mounting HW weights only 130 grams. Am I just lucky or is this normal?

Best regards,

Miha

Hi Miha,

the empty weight of my VIPs is also about 130g. Before I read that the weight is about 170g so I was also surprised when the scale showed much less, it seems that they (Heinrich) have improved the building technique. Still the VIP is very strong, you can put an extremely powerful setup in and it won't explode in the air. I flew mine as heavy as 660g loaded with 8 FAUPs and Kontronik FUN400-42!

Hi Kris,

Yeah I noticed that searching the forums.

Also found out great advices on CG (40 mm vs. old 33 mm) and right aileron and elevator throws for fliing, launchin/landing.

I got another question. The gap on the control surfaces seems rather big for "real speed". I have some idea to do simple modifications with thin tape to cover the gap. Would that work or better leave it as is?

We maidened this baby today. Nice plane. I set the CG at about 36 mm after first flight at 40 mm. Also still too much rudder sensitive, needs less throw (now at 3 mm).

Launching ang landing no problem at all. I have some vids I will show later.

Today I finally flew with:

Hacker B20 15L
Future 11.20e
4.7 x 4.7 CAM
7 x GP1100

I like it very much! I also tried with 2S1P Konions but didn't like the tracking. Also the CG should be more forward as the plane still went up at full throttle. But on the other hand landing is really simple. Goes like parkflyer

Not the fastest setup you have... Try a Thunder Power TP2100 3s lipo pack and prop down to 4.1x4.1

OK, Kris, I know

It is not slow and not fast. Feels right I will be keeping is this way for now as good training-fun machine. But I still noob, this was only my third time I flew alone with any kind of pylon plane. Only now for 7 months into planes, mostly sailplanes and one parkflyer.

I also have Sprint soon finished with 16/7/7 on 3S Should be faster, but also not that fast. Weight will be only 280 grams

The short Mega 16/7/x are also nice motors, small, light, powerful and inexpensive. I have the 16/7/6 in my Sprint and the 16/7/5 in my Stinger. The will also be a 16/7/4 and 16/7/3 available for ultimate speed!

Mega 16/7/5 convinced me when I made short small BL motor test.

For me it is in most applications better than Hacker B20 15L!

Test in Slovene language:

I hope 16/7/7 will be nice on higher voltage of 3S Lipoly.

I've seen the specs of 3 and 4 turn. Should be screamers on good 20 C 2S!
