Great to see the video.
I think they had a little urging. 1. They mention the no steering control. 2. It looks like he barely made it on the ground take-off, and the landing was no better. It looks like they cut it just as it rolled off the side of the runway. 3. With it tending to lift the nose like that, it looks like differential thrust would be effective even without a castering or steerable nose wheel. 4. Seems to land awefully fast. I wonder if it will slow down? Does it drop a wing or do something else bad if you try? |

it definitely needs a steerable nose wheel, it looks like you need to hold down elevator to get your speed up before you lift off. I noticed they had use a 2200 40c and a 1800 65 C. so it looks like there's plenty of room for the battery.
did may need flaperons to slow it down, but you have to watch the stall speeds. death hand launched look absolutely wild, it looks like it took a lot of speed to get it going then! it may require a bungee launch for those who wish to not use the gear. Victor |

spoilerons, no flaperonsQuote:
if you don't have flaps, the way to slow down a plane is to use the ailerons as spoilerons, i.e., move them up. A sllight down elevator correction is then usually needed. using a heavy lipo will make take off easier with a more forward CG, but everything else will be made worse (stall speed, landings, hand launch). better to use down elevator to keep the plane on the runway longer and couteract the pitch-up from the motors - the thrust line below CG is a problem all Me 262 have in common, it creates this pitch-up moment, but moving CG is the worst solution IMO I hope to get it from RC Castle or some other source (shipping from the US to Europe is not an option), and will try to make it as light as possible, and hand-launch it. I have the GWS model and it is a handful to launch and land, but it's a great plane, here's a short video showing the hairy launch phase, and that landings cannot be made really slow
Meanwhile, good luck to the early adopters! cheers Clemens |

I loved my two GWS me-262! my second one had inboard flaps. they needed a lot of down elevator to take off and fly well.

The Dynam Me-262, even though at almost $100 more - which admittedly puts it in a different class -- really looks like a better deal -- Retracts, 4ch - including steerable nose wheel, Nav lights. If the Dynam had scale-like split flaps, I probably would go for it right now. My original criteria for buying a mini EDF is here: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=2398366 I still don't think I have found anything that meets those criteria. I probably won't if I want realistic take-offs and landings. This model -- at $149 for ARF/PNP is a really good deal for a cool-looking dual EDF mini. It's also impressive that you get "Big Model" features, like all of the magnetically attached hatches -- not to mention a gyro -- at less than the cost of the single EDF mini-Habu. (Yes, the Habu includes a Spektrum compatible RX (BNF), but you can buy this Me-262, and a Lemon Featherlight, and still be under the cost of the mini-Habu) But the fact that neither hand launching nor wheels seem to be practical, safe flying methods is making me hold off. I am still concerned about belly-landing on the nacelles... and how many wing tosses like shown in the video will it take before one wing, and the rest of the model go in different directions? I'd rather spend $289, and have something that at least stands a chance of taking off and landing multiple times without destroying itself. The initial cost of the model is acually only part of the costs of this hobby. I think you can tell I am a bit conflicted about this model. I think I'll go out to the flying field and do my best to demolish my Ares P-51 (Which I strongly do not recommend buying). This will accomplish all of the following: Relieve stress Give me time to think about what EDF I really want Let me practice aerobatics in a "nothing to loose" situation Make room for a new model Free up a Lemon RX Free up some servos that may become rudder/NWS or flap servos in a German jet warbird. |

The Dynam is definitely a better deal, if you really aren't looking for a micro:
