Guess the Plane!

Hey Everybody!

Just for fun...can anybody name this plane? I know it's not very hard, but oh well. Anybody else have a bare bones picture of a plane we can try to guess its type??

Shame on you! You could have done a bit better. The Navy designatin was F4U. Popular name=Corsair

4= fourth design submitted by
U=Chance Vought

A heck of a fine airplane though.

Bill, I know...It's the Vought F4U-1D version to be percise Just didn't want to give it away. Yeah Greg yours is a bit larger. This is just a Walnut scale Dumas kit. Wingspan is 17''. It's only a display model for a friend.

Ahh, but what GregG isn't telling everyone is that he's only 19 inches tall

17 inches you say? Surely one of those GWS motors running direct drive with a 4x2 cut down to 3x2 and 6 x 110ma cells should do it no? (things that make you go "hmmm") *runaway runaway* Too many projects on the go already

You can click on that picture and my web page on it will come up. I finally found the motor, but they quit making it once I collected all the money to buy it! I still have 90-1700's for it along with retracts, interior kit, engine kit, and just about everything else. It's just another one of those "One of these days projects".

Picture didnt link, cant click edit anymore to see other folks tags, but being the resourceful guy I am I found your website anyway!! That's quite a project...there have been some of those motors on ebay from time to time, or the same guy trying to sell the same one. 90 cells? 90 cells? 108 volts? I know thats a split pack/packs, but if a charger were built for a 90 cell pack, I would think you would just about have to run it off a 220v circuit!!!

Holy Crap....good luck charging that puppy. Your're a true E-Flyer...ya sure you don't want to just put a greasy, grimy, noise maker in the front end of that thing?

AirVenture, what are you going to power yours with, how many cells, etc.

Mine is going to be powered by three packs, 30 cells each. I'm looking into the DIY brushless motors myself.

Well unfortunately this little guy isn't going to fly. It's a model for a friend. I'm not even sure what type of setup I would use in something this small. 17" wingspan...very light though, but not that much room for equipment. You would have to cobble up a way to put a lot of the stuff in the wing root.
