EAM brushless popfly for night flying...lots of pics

Here is my new popfly from
It's built close to stock. Here is what I did differently:
Trimmed the back to move the motor forward since I am running a heavier than stock motor.
Elevons are farther out to allow for more prop.
Moved the battery way forward for the same reason.
Installed leds in the wing bays, winglets, and under the nose.
Added some lightply at the wing joint under the TE.
Used 3mm cloroplast for the winglets.
...maybe it isn't that close to stock

Tweety speed
7X6 or 8X4.3 prop
2 cell 1500 kokams (rather add more battery than lead)
AUW 9oz

It flys great! Plenty of power and very nice vertical, but it still slows down really well for cruising around slow and low. It shoudl be fun indoors. No problems with orientation day or night. Bottom covering is blue, and the top is clear. Blue led's on the inboard 6 bays...white in the outboard 6 and the nose. Red on the left winglet and green on the right.

Enough about some pics? Anyone up for some night flying?

Tweety Speed Mount

In case you were wondering... I am using a stick mount for the motor. It consists of a GWS 280 gearbox with no shaft. The Tweety bolts right up to it after I wallowed out the mounting holes a bit. The "inlet cone" in a GWS spinner that I glued in. The motor is barely warm and the batteries are cool the the touch after a flight.

Let me know what you think.

For $40.00 you can't beat it, and it flys great on a gws 180 S2 and etec or kokam 2 1200...looooong flight times.

Hey Gary, they look real cool! Now a Strike with a 16/15/3 would be something (just kidding! A disaster would be something too)

But maybe a Razor?
