Paint Update

A paint update:

A few weeks since last post, finally the hull is completely painted as well as the decks:

As usual, false weld lines were added to the styrene decks to add some detail, this was done by putting a line of Testor's glue down between two adjacent strips of masking tape then pulling the tape ~

Works well on styrene.

Hatches were detailed prior to paint, they fit Perfectly in the openings, No trimming was needed to get them to fit !

A shade or "grimy black", an old Testor's railroad color was used on the decks.

Both colors for the hull came from Blick art supply, two shades of orange were bought and tested, the unused one will be returned ( Blick's return policy is good for 365 days ! ).

The upper and lower hull colors best matched the real Tug #3.

When totally dry, the rubber bumpers will be painted black.

Chose to paint the hull before the decks go in to avoid having to mask the deck.

The raw hull was SO well finished, all that was needed was a light sanding overall to give the paint a key to get on.

That color orange nailed it. So many shades but you appear to picked the best one. And you always cut the cleanest lines. Excellent work again Tim.

Now not wanting to spoil your great painting weather but would you mind if I send you Calafornia folks some of this Louisiana rain???? Or my next project will be a Ark and a heavy beard!

Looks good there Tim. Interesting colors. But then nice not to have some thing that is the same old black colored hull tug.
