hacker a60-5s, 4.22 firmware thats for 28 pole motor. under half throttle there is no pull. after half throttle is where the power burst it at. like i have expo in the throttle. everyting in the radio is correct. guess i can try some settings in the esc or run up the throttle curve some. no electric ive ever built smaller then this has felt like this.

Yep! I'm addicted.....

Try setting it to 8Khz and 25 Deg timing and see if that helps.

Looks like the factory setting is 12Khz from Castle, but Hacker suggests 8Khz according to there website.

I'm on 8khz but I'll have to check timing after work. Timing should be on default right now

You may have to play with that and throttle curves. The Castle's still don't play well with the 28 pole motors. I was using the Edge but felt I was leaving a bit of power on the table and am trying to get one of the Mezon Opti Lite if I can find one

just got my whatt meter hooked up. 2050w. not bad. seems to be plenty. my better new batterys havnt arrived yet. i bumped the timing up. but its jsut 1-10 numbers so its just trial and error. the problem i dont like is with no reverse expo i have no power under half stick. i did a test. i put the stick at one line under half throttle. no expo 200w !! reverse %50 expo i got 700w. this is barely under half stick. not what im liking. im at a loss. i dont have the money to upgrade to a mezon

Have you tried fixed endpoints on the Castle?

Castle definitely has a problem with 28 pole Hacker motors. However, based on my initial experience with my Laser 93 with a Hacker Q80-8M (28 pole) and Master Mezon, the Jeti ESCs aren't much better.

I'm being to think Hacker motors, at least the 28 pole motors, are just weird - hard to get working correctly with any ESC. I'm tempted to try Motrolfly motors.

the esc is very smooth and has no issues with the poles. im on auto calibrate. chatting with Andrew Jesky right now and he says hes using a hard throttle curve. i think thats all im after. i got to charge up my batterys and head back outside in the cold. burrrr

You didn't find much of an improvement with the Jeti ESCs? Interesting, I was hoping to get more power and a bit more linear performance.

Thanks for the info

I have to play with the settings of the Jeti Master Mezon I am using with my Hacker Q80-8M some more. Definitely not more power - using 12s 5000 45c lipos in good condition, with a Xoar 24x10 PJN prop I am getting 4500 watts at 105A. I'm going to try a 24x12 PJN next. What a waste, I bought the 24x10 prop (two in fact) because the docs from Jeti/Hacker for the motor/ESC combo said I would get 5600w with a Xoar 24x10 electric prop. I am already using a 24x12 in my Slick 89 with Castle ICE2 ESC and getting a lot more power, hopefully it will also be the right prop for the Jeti.

The other issue with the Jeti/Mezon ESC is throttle response off of idle. I have set start power to start power + 30 as suggested by AJ, it is not enough. I'm going to try start power + 50 next, and also I will reduce the acceleration parameter down to 1.0 or 0.5.

Since the Jeti Master Mezon 135 Opto is the ESC that is suppose to be specifically designed to work with the Hacker Q80-8M, I'm a bit disappointed with having to tinker so much. Given the price of the Jeti I expected more.

If there weren't so many reported problems with the Castle Edge ESCs in combination with 28 pole Hackers I would stick with Castle. I've never had an issue with throttle response with a Castle ESC.

I'm using a Mezon 130 with the Motrofly 5335 in my 93 with Falcon CF 24x10. Acceleration is slower than CC for sure, but not too bad. I had a Spin 200 on my 104 back in the day which was painfully slow. Here are some max watts (from Mezon telemetry) I hit with different sets of packs, Glacier 5000 45C and Revlectrix 5500 mah 70 C (4.27 chemistry but only charged to 4.2):

Flt 1 Glacier 66 cycles: 4565
Flt2 Glacier (one pack 67, one 39 cycles: 5224
Flt 3 Glacier 36 cycles: 4860
Flt 4 Glacier 36 cycles: 5232
Flt 5 Rev 18 cycles: 6264
Flt 6 Rev 17 cycles: 5557

Interesting information on the Jeti. Perhaps I will wait until the warmer weather is here and do some more testing with my Castle prior to making the change. I will have to do some measurements to see what power output I am seeing

my castle has only been ground ran but is pretty darn smooth. with old batteries im getting 2050w. new batterys should be close to 2200w. im running talon 120hv with newest firmware

Does anyone know if the Hacker A-60-5s will mount directly to the motor box or does it require re-drill? Thanks

The e-motorbox is pre drilled for the Hacker, but you need to drill the firewall to mount the e-motorbox... if I member correctly.
