Would be nice if ALES was included in the contest....

I'm certain you can fly ALES, but it will be alongside the open and RES ships. Just scored separately against other ALES planes.
Larry himself loves ALES and flies that as often as RES these days, if not more. I'll see if he can chime in. R, Target EDIT! Rule #11 here states that ALES will be flown, but each entrant is limited to 3 classes to make sure the contest ends on time. http://sc2soaring.com/wp-content/upl...2015_Rules.pdf |

Target, Has answered the question correctly. There will be an ALES class and they will fly as a group. I would prefer to fly them first up so get them assembled and charged. I would be very pleased if there were 14 other pilots. Thanks Larry

Just to add to what Target wrote, here is what the rules say:

BTW - what are we using for the ALES class as far as altitude cutoff goes?? 150 or 200 meters?? IIRC it has been 150, but my memory isn't what I recall it being!!

Bill, I will announce prior to the contest. I am considering making up some ALES tapes, setting the duration at 10 , minutes, and leaving the altitude at 200m so that we can use it for league points. How many ALES guys do we have ??? LJ

Just curious. It's not like I had any intention of practicing!! I plan on being there with my ancient all molded monster nosed MH32 3.1 meter lead sled!!

What do you expect?? Why do you think I am a Baby Boomer??
Call me silly, but I'd rather have the meat chopper in front and above me rather than behind my head. As ugly as I am, I like all the parts where they are right now!! |

Can I fly my 2 meter ALES plane in this contest? I've never competed in a thermal contest and would like to participate for the fun factor.
I actually don't have an altitude limiter but would be willing to pay the entry fee and take a DQ just to fly in a contest like this. |

SteveK, I don't see why you couldn't come out and join in, I think I will fly my Radian in the ALES class rather than my Aspire. You do need to be an AMA member though.

And I am going to be flying a 12 year old lead-sled all molded 3.1 meter Graphite. If you are not AMA right now, you can join on the spot and be good to or you can do it online and print out your receipt.
https://www.modelaircraft.org/joinrenew.aspx Don't hesitate, this is competition, but it is also fun and there will be loads of people happy to help you!! |
