Southwest Airlines has completely changed when it comes to checking my Sportube 3 at no charge. I used to have to stand there and argue with them for 30 min. Now they check my bag with a smile They must have made a company wide decision to allow sportubes regardless. It seemed (before) that every counter attendant had their own rules (made up in their heads). So I had to learns them on the principalities of baggage law interpretation. I like to think my efforts and world class cross-examination skills made it up the chain of command.... and now.... Sportubes fly free You all can thank me with an ice cold corona at a future contest. Cheers!

Lacking a sport tube, get a box from Oleg. His are tough! (a sport tube is still tougher).

If you know anyone that travels to golf or skiing destinations, borrow one if you can.

Also, do not forget to put a 1x2 piece of wood, longer than the wing, inside to keep anyone from sliding it further closed. The tube lid slides down to the length of the items inside. Skis and golf clubs can handle someone pressing on the lid, an airplane wing cannot.

I built a chloroplast box that slides inside the Sportube. Double protection and I've yet to have any problems or damaged goods in my travels.

What's more curious is that Oleg did not list the taboo as his primary. Hmmmm.

Thanks Doug. I had thought I had missed them for my website collection of HLGs/DLGs.
