Xenon Autogyro

I have always liked twin boom models and had a list of Autogyros that I would like to build
After the demise of my Little Wing 5 I used the bits to built a small version of the Xenon Autogyro but never test flew it

It was when talking with Tony Audsley aka Lockey about him helping me with scale drawings that I got enthusiastic again.
Tony made me some drawings of the Xenon and I started to build a test model, Later I will use them to build the next one with a scale body.

Tried a few fast taxi runs with no blades to check the tracking then a couple of hops with different sets of blades then settled for the ones in the video.

That really does fly very well, sits nicely. Can't wait to see it with a body on

Great stuff Joe, how did you get the blades to spin up in such low wind (the wind sock seemed to be hanging almost limp)

What blades did you use ? What motor / battery combo etc and what was the AU weight ?

Is this the full size one Joe ?

Cheers mate and a happy new year

Hi Tony
The blades are AeroBalsa I had a few sets from 5 years ago when I introduced Autogyros at the RC Hotel
The lipo is 3s 2200 motor 1100kv 40 amp esc
With 3 blades and an extra lipo to get the hang angle I think it weighs just over 3lb but I will check that today
Most of the bits are salvaged from crashed and burned models
I would like to build the next one bigger with the body
I have also tried a two blade set up
Video soon
Joe
Happy New Year everyone

Rich only with your guidance, and if I had changed the head angle after flying the three blades to your two blade settings I think the first flight would have not ended with a broken model
I had almost full back elevator in the circuit and not enough to slow on landing
I dont think I will make a body for this test frame but will try and modify my Gyro One to booms and Xenon body
