LightRC Combat Mini PBF proto Build Thread

I was given the privilege to build a prototype for Sam, the owner of LightRC.

This is a slightly modified version of him V2 mini pbf for pbf combat.

He changed the wing by about an inch so it will roll faster and loop tight even with a slightly forward CG (needed for inertia in combat ) without sacrificing wing loading!

This was designed for combat so that the rudder, wing, motor/servo pod are all quickly interchangeable between combat heats.

The 3 do not have to be glued togather!

The rudder is held on with a CF "clip" and the motor pod can be held on with the battery Velcro strap.

I made a step by step picture build.

I used all thin CA and a couple dabs of hot glue. I used half a liquid oz of thin ca on the whole airframe and that was with me glued the pod and rudder to the wing.
Sam used all hot glue on his and only used two sticks which is a out 6grams dry weight of glue.

Mine came out a bit porky because I used thicker pushrods and 7.5g servos instead of 5g servos.

You can use any glue because its epp and upto 12gr servos if you really want.

Mine, with 3 s75 servos, 10amp esc, park 250 was 4.3oz without the 2cell 450mah lipo. 5.5oz with battery.

Maiden:

A bit windy and over propped slowing motor responce and rpm but still very spunky

Pictures are in order from left to right, step for step.

RCG used to have the option of adding comments to each pic but I can't figure out how to now.

So if you have a question please ask.

I'll get video as soon as the winds calm down below 10mph.

I was able to fly this one this morning. Sam seems to out do himself with every new design!

I didn't think the origional mini pbf could fly much better, and to be honest I didn't think this one could with the added drag of the new fuselage design but man was I wrong!

This one is still light and floats very very well but with its new wing flatform it is also more spunky! I wouldn't say "hyper" but surely more responsive and maneuverable....LOL...as if the V2 wasn't :P

When I find the best prop for the motor I'll get a good long video

In the mean time the build videos for the origional (V2) mini pbf is uploading right now so stay tuned!

Here is the maiden of the V2

Both of mine came out at exactly 4.5oz without bettery!

The V2 is out of stock while the V3 combat version undergoes some changes for final production. Sam is working very hard on this and trust me, its worth the wait!

Sorry for the crappy videos. The weather here is horrible but I wanted to get video of both reguardless until better weather comes.
