Skate
It's awfully narrow* for an RC trimaran-have you sailed it? Price is good for a boat with glass hulls but the beam is going to hurt performance a lot.
* a one meter RC trimaran should have a beam ,at a minimum, of one meter. |

It sure looks wider than 660mm, at least in proportion to the quoted length.
$100 to ship is a bit much to swallow. I'll wait until they are in the US Warehouse. |

Ordered and Received The ARS Skate 1000 From Hobby King. The Kit itself is very Reasonable in price. fact more than reasonable. It's simply the high cost of Shipping That's the kicker. Non less it arrived in less than a week well packaged Via DHS.
Unpacking- From the Hulls/outriggers (Beautiful fiber glass),Rudder, Dagger board to other associated parts..superb packing With no damage what so ever! Despite the large volume. All the parts are separately bagged and organized . Assembly takes a bit longer than the claimed hour. non less I'm quite slow to assemble all kits including ARS kits. From start to finish it took me 3 hours. Of course I had to Provide the transmitter and receiver. It calls for a minimum of a 2 channel..I elected for a 4. Upon the binding of the receiver I noted a wood mounting board with a Velcro strap system to secure the receiver and battery pack. Not the greatest but okay. I'll probably modify that with a container system of sorts. Most difficult task was securing the Rudder to the setscrew as the provided allen wrench wasn't the greatest as per fit. Routing the flexible rods through the main sail sleeves and securing it to the aluminum Mast took additional time. Other than that, a snap. Anyone with nominal assembly skills should have no issues. Parts appear to be well made . I'm surely not a fan of winches however, it'll work. The Assembly instructions appears okay..The assembly pictures could use improvement as clarity with an expanded view (Less cropping). Onto the design: Personally, I have a good feeling it'll get on step nicely especially on full reach : o !!!! . It has the unique feel and Design that it'll handle sustained winds well. I've owned a number of sail boats in my life , and this will be interesting. What a sight..It's Clean. Anxious to SHARE The outcome.. I'll provide GOPRO stills and Videos for all to see in lieu of objectively grading the unit on performance( to include dis-assembly of the Sail, Mast and Stays for transporting) Mean while, I bid all a beautiful week ahead! (RADIO /RECIEVER 2.4GHZ 4 Channel) |

Hi everyone! A bit cool outside today non less sailed the skate ARS 1000 Trimaran this morning. To follow up I purchased this Boat from Hobby king so shipping was a bear however, the smile and fun made up for it today. Okay, The complete sail assembly breaks down namely the Mast, Stays etc. Takes a few minutes. Once completed the entire unit despite the 1 meter size fits inside the auto with ease. I elected to keep the dagger board and rudder on. Note the included stand is rather flimsy so I reinforced the connecting ends with Duck tape for now at least. Boat was placed upright on the Passenger seat of my SMART CAR! Reassembly at the site, Easy . However, recommend bigger snap links (for stay attachments) for easier removal and attaching. Okay launch off- Waded in 2' of water, placed the skate down and immediately the tri reacted to the 10 Kt SW winds. The hull MOVES! Fassssssst! From tacking, Come abouts, manuvering To Full reach..It gets on step and Hauls. Beautiful handling Very well balanced . The winds picked up to 15 kts in which no issues with stability. It accelerated even faster. Took numerous breaks and let the sails luff and then, reengaged. The winch is okay. 1st time I've used a winch system. However I might improve by modifying with a better. Sure it worked with satisfaction but will scout around to see if upgrade would enhance performance. The top deck canopy covers for aft and mid deck fitS good. but I used canopy seal tape (hatch tape) To further secure and seal. Oh yeah, the winch is secured / MOUNTED with 4 small screws. Recommend to lock tite and follow up with a light dab of RTV . Took some GOPRO Vids wILL POST ONCE MY KNUCKLE head self figures how too. Sorry I'm still living in the 8 track days! Overall, Handling is Superb. It's Fassst! Out of the 6 kit type sail boats I've owned, by far this boat tops all. It's Great handling and dominate size captivates the Joy of RC SAILING! (Which is relative of course) However, Improvements recommended as noted. Others may see otherwise.
