Nice work, very neat!
I can't tell because I don't have a firewall anymore (heh!), but is there room to reach into the firewall/fuselage mating area for reinforcement? I have this crazy idea that maybe, I'll go an 85cc again (in fact the recovered one), if I can reinforce the firewall (at an overkill level). |

How's the build progress?
I've ordered another one. I would love to build it again but I simply can't make the time. So I'm having a professional build it (most of it, I'll still mount the batteries, rx, controllers). He'll surely have it turn out a lot nicer than I did last time. I would also love to put the 85cc in it again (this time with the firewall duly enforced), but my club won't certify it with that engine size haha. So this time I'm going with an RCGF 60 rear exhaust. It's cheaper than a DLE61 and will save me heaps on an in-cowl exhaust. And I'll go with a 22x10x3 blade prop. Targeting Feb for maiden. |

Anyhow, over the Christmas break & due to our whole household being covid infected & in isolation I have managed to finish the Tucano today. Electron retracts were a pain in the ass to get right but really happy with the final result. I did some reinforcement all along the boxed in sections at the canopy join line. One thing i have hated with this model was every time you grabbed the airframe around the canopy area to move it some of that flimsy box section cracked . So much stronger now. Super impressed with the EME 60, absolutely purrs. Super easy hand start, low idle & super smooth for a big single. As good as some of my other twins. This is the latest EME 60 with some improvements over the earlier ones. Ready for maiden but not in a hurry, want to maiden my new Laser which is actually now a Slick, very little difference. |

Looking great dazza.
Mine was delivered before Christmas and is sitting with the builder. He will start on it in a week or so. Quote:
If I could ask: - What prop size? - That looks like an aftermarket pitts exhaust, which one did you use? - Do you anticipate any cooling issues? Not much air outlet visible in that cowl. - Electrons looks good, be keen to know how they perform. What made you pick them over the stock gear? Speedy recoveries with covid mate! |

I too had to make a major dent in my pitts exhaust to get the retract motor to fit. Hope I don't have to do that with the RCGF's rear exhaust, but we'll see. I thought the retract motor on electrons can be repositioned to the other side? For cooling, I will repeat the louvres as I had done previously. They worked quite well. You're right, stock retract though beefy aren't very good on the mechanics. I went through 3 different nose retract because the motor failed easily. |

Electric of course is much smoother so no motor box issue. Electric IMO sounds much more scale as the full size is a turboprop. |

Honestly, being a 3D/XA pilot I'm still in doubt if I'll enjoy scale flying for much long but if I decide to take a shot I'll custom order a composite kit from a local manufacturer. I know it is smaller and heavier plane but much better quality and I can get all the parts and support I need. Ronaldo |
