1930s ship

Someone in the club has been flying an old 1930s, open bay stick and tissue ship in ALES contests. I have recently purchased a similar aircraft "Ben Buckle - Record Breaker", 80" wing. I would like to hook up with him to discuss building techniques, motor selection etc. Thanks, Charles

Good for what ALES you

The pilot you are looking for is likely our multi-talented Scott Woodward. It was certainly a thing of beauty watching his old-timer climbing above even the modern fiberglass sailplanes in Visalia this year.

I have a 1938 Playboy Sr. (second photo) I converted from a gas-powered free-flight to electric that I flew it in the Limited Motor Run event at the Society of Antique Modelers Champs in Nevada last year. I am toying with the idea of having an Old-Timer day at one of our ALES contests and either fly them in a class, or as a lunch event.

Old time club activity

This idea appealed to Weeds and I. I'm going to order short kit for a Sr. Playboy kit next week. I hope to have a plane done soon. I know Weeds is planning on building a Playboy kit this winter too.
