Nice job of reporting David! You and Glauco are not flying in the precomp? You must be too busy.

Go team USA, keep up the good work and fly like we all know you can.

Dave, can you find out where the timing system came from? Is that the Czech system? Is the buzzer in speed immediate or is there a delay?

The system they use is an "in-house" development.
It is used for several years, heard no complaints about delay so far :-)

The programming guy knows his way in real-time systems.

Arnhem Open......today (Sunday) is the last day of the competition.

Amazing to see 80 pilots all in one place let alone competing.

(The hotel's internet is having speed issues for all these photo files.)

Dear all

I can report that the US team is ready and we used the last couple days to get to know the field and practice as a team.

The Arnhem open was a bit disappointing as we could only compete one round, due to bad weather and non-ideal organization.

Still we got a glimpse of the conditions that may be encountered during the coming week. Saturday saw increasing wind to strom which made flying dicey and some rounds were brutal. In my round there was only one pilot that flew longer than me and it was quite ugly. I am happy that my model made it back on the field and is not part of the forrest decoration (there is quite a number of models irrecoverably lost in the woods surrounding the airfield from previous contests).

Sunday was much nicer weather and there was at first soft thermal activity that increased during the day. We generally had good reads in distance and especially Kyle's distance flight against Andreas Boehlen and Andreas Herrig was nice to watch. He flew aggressive and very precise to win this high stacked group.

There were some thermal cycles, which when good air passed the course, allowed pretty fast times in speed. A steady headwind allowed launches to ~300m (depending on pilot and air), affording for good entry heights. There were many pilots that seemed to be very well dialed in with very clean runs.

After the WC Opening Ceremonies I wanted to take a few shots of everyone.

Dillon, Kim and John Graves arrived in time for Dillon to get a flight in.
(Thanks John for snapping the photo)

Will Dillon continue his Euro tour domination? Stay tuned to find out!

In all seriousness I was at the last day that Dillon was practicing speed (here in sunny FL). I timed a couple of flights for his speed runs and as my first experience with B was very impressed. Everyone better watch out for this guy. He's an ace!

There's nothing quite like the sound of a glider making an enterence to a speed run!

Loren aka Lenny by Kyle,

Glauco is the Team manager and that is a a lot of work and I am very busy also. F3B is very popular here. To quote Reto, "the good pilots are treated like rock stars."

The hotel internet is better this morning so will send out these images, no time for captions. I have to jump in the shower and get ready to leave.......

Flying field no WiFi so will use my cell carrier for internet access.
